Shiraz Lane

Hailing from Vantaa, Finland, Shiraz Lane started their musical journey in 2011. Their vision of a perfect blend of sonic combustion and elegant delicacy started to blossom and reach its potential when the current line-up was solidified in 2014 and the band released their first EP "Be The Slave Or Be The Change". That was followed with albums "For Crying Out Loud", "Carnival Days", "Vibration I", "Forgotten Shades Of Life" and "Acoustic Archives''.Shiraz Lane gained much attention internationally early on in their career which saw them go on to perform shows in Japan,South America also Europe at some festivals & also the US on the Monsters Of Rock Cruise."Vertigo" is a new chapter for Shiraz Lane with going down a more modern, ambitious direction.
The opening track "Stone Cold Lover" has a strong and pounding drum beat from the first note, the huge powerful riffs & rhythm then kick in to deliver a catchy number with a punchy chorus,a great start to the new more modern Shiraz Lane change of direction."Dangerous" is another catchy modern track driven by this meaty guitar hook and another ear worm, addictive chorus. The album takes more of a modern AOR/Melodic turn with the dreamy atmospheric melodies in "The Ray Of Light",the vocals are strong & powerful, with fine guitar touches which all add up to another strong track."Live A Little More" one of best tracks on the album, Hannes Kett's vocals & the different tones, range & delivery are superb, a great modern Scandi Hard Rock track."Babylon" is another track which has that modern & fresh edge we get from bands such as Eclipse and H.E.A.T.,which is also the case for "Plastic Heart" which chugs along with addictive melodies, strong vocals, complete with a killer chorus which is a breath of fresh air to me this 50 year old rocker! "Sayonara Love" followed by "Bullshit" have a very futuristic modern sound."Come Alive" although predominantly a rock track thanks to the percussion & guitar runs, there are some funky, poppy elements to the sound especially vocally. The final track on the album "Brand New Day" has some great key touches, great chorus and is a track perfect for heavy radio airplay and rotation which all music fans would appreciate.
"Vertigo" is appealing,it's a rejuvenated Shiraz Lane who have not just made another generic Melodic Rock album, they have turned Melodic Rock on its head to deliver a fresher sounding record, which will ensure that this genre does not become stale, with bands like Shiraz Lane it will evolve. An ambitious move for the band which has paid off! A very strong album which is great from start to finish.
