It's like a dream for me to review one of the SEPTICFLESH albums and been posted in Metal Temple - that's huge. I follow this worldwide Greek soup since I was sixteen; I was a wild teenager at that time though nothing could mollified else than arrange a meditation sessions while correlating to "Mystic Places of Dawn" (originally released 1994) and "Esoptron" (released in 1995) I miss those days and this album's reissue released from the French label Season Of Mist reminded me deeply on my youth it's like a nostalgic voyage to the past for all metallers.
I know the whole discography of SEPTICFLESH, where each album they release is better than its previous, they never let me down. There's always something new and unique in their career, that's why I strongly believe that "Communion" and "The Great Mass" are that best that SEPTICFLESH has liberated after when Seth and Sotiris firmly established themselves as a leading force of Symphonic Dark Metal.
As I stated earlier, this reissue is a strong reminder of SEPTICFLESH early days, it contains all eleven songs of original "Esoptron" album plus three bonus tracks two of them played on l Live In Lille back in 1999. Nothing of this material might be fresh but nevertheless you can't deny that is the right time to rediscover the sheer strength of aged atmospheric Death Metal.
Furthermore SEPTICFLESH not only known by their music but also with the art of album covers, from 1994 till now each artwork looks like grand complicated painting that has a story to tell about the dark passion that haunts the man's desire, their native and Egypt mythology & more noir auras comes from Hades. Not forgetting that this new artwork for reissued album is newly made and designed by Seth himself in Streenchen Studio as you can see how simple, artistic and mystic. I think it reflects his personality more than the original theme of this full length.
Intro short atmospheric march accompanied with high notes of piano to take to Seth awesomeness harsh voice though he describe "Esoptron" with his own words: "Here desires and fears are shaped, uncontrolled multiplied in, the rhythm of ecstasy, gathered under the threat of upcoming afflictions", along with the solo guitar at the that feed your soul and that's what makes SEPTICFLESH so unique, pale, strange guitar melodies, brutal and sharp riffing presented in all the tracks. As you notice the lyrics says it all the epicenes they possess "In courts of exotic domains, sirens play with the strings of the rainbow, in a harmonious elegance, the story of a king".
I can't wait to see what the next they will show, I personally thank them for this voyage now I must see them in live show one day so I can fulfill this dream till the end.
