Sebastian Bach - Angel Down album cover

There are some times in our lives that we have to choose between two paths. We make our destiny never knowing what is behind this dark turn that everybody calls the future. SKID ROW made a huge success with their first self-titled album but the choice was clear. Pop rock hits or sleazy, dirty, angry songs? The band chose the second path that lead them to Slave To The Grind and then to Subhuman Race, that were less successful and - as a result - SKID ROW's frontman left to find his luck in other music places.
What really happened to the beautiful SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach, after his departure from the band? After singing on Broadway productions like Rocky Horror Show, he was fired from Jesus Christ Superstar musical because of his diva-like behavior. He released an all-cover album Bach 2: Basics and had a role in the girly TV series Gilmore Girls. With Ted Nugent, Scott Ian and Jason Bonham they started on VH1's reality show Supergroup. Bach basically made anything from singing on various projects and appearing on stage with well know bands like GUNS N' ROSES. Now the almighty Sebastian Bach returns with his first studio solo album Angel Down.
The album's self-titled song kicks in with aggressive riffs and Bach's vocals bleeding from all the screaming; I think Bach picks up were he left things with SKID ROW, I guess Monkey Business became unfinished business for Sebastian Bach. You Don't Understand has a melodic guitar intro and a lower tone vocal line. This is the first song from the duet of Sebastian Bach and Roy Z. (Bruce Dickinson, Rob Rock, TRIBE OF GIPSIES). They co-wrote the biggest amount of songs for the Angel Down CD.
Following his love for covers, Sebastian Bach and Axl Rose sing Back In The Saddle a song from AEROSMITH's Rocks album. This particular song is the first hit for Sebastian Bach before the release of the album. The next song has the GUNS N' ROSES - Appetite For Destruction , sleazy mood. (Love Is) A Bitchslap is  one of the best songs in Angel Down, with Axl Rose giving his best, he can say bitchslap like no other singer in rock n' roll. With your bitch slap rappin' and your cocaine tongue you get nothin' done (you know the song). The next drum intro reminds me of Youth Gonna Wild but instead of that, Stuck Inside enters with dark intentions. This songs has clean guitar chords, Axl Rose is again on vocals and is writing credits along with Sebastian Bach.

Bach is blessed with a unique group of musicians for this album. On the bass Steve DiGiorgio (DEATH, AUTOPSY, TESTAMENT, ICED EARTH, CONTROL DENIED, SADUS) gives metal depth, feeling and sound. The 'progressive' metal drummer Bobby Jarzombek (HALFORD, DEMONS AND WIZARDS), on the guitars Mike Chlasciak (HALFORD, TESTAMENT, PAINMUSEUM) and Johnny Chromatic. All of of them put together a musical throne for Bach's voice.

Negative Light is a song that Mike Chlasciak wrote and has a scary bass intro from Steve DiGiorgio, then the PANTERA-like riff, tempo and mood kick in. By Your Side is the first ballad of the album that brings to our minds the acoustic verse of I Remember You, the amazing SKID ROWs song. Our Love Is A Lie is a great mid tempo hard rock song with the nice riff. You Bring Me Down is more of a stoner-like song, with heavy slow bass line.
The closing song has a special appearance even more important than Axl's, for me. Desmond Child co-wrote Falling Into You with Sebastian Bach. You can understand Desmond's touch from the explicit backing vocals, the melody that sticks into your head, the dual guitar harmonies on the intro and of course from the gentle transpose of scale into the chorus of the song. This is the perfect way to close this great album.

Sebastian Bach is back with a great album, mixes many tastes of hard rock and delivers to his (long waited) fans Angel Down, the best possible way. I know the ladies have already bought the album for the beautiful pictures but Sebastian is in his 40s and still sounds awesome.
