Scamp - The Deadcalm album cover

Another quite attractive Danish Groove Metal band, built with Modern influences ranging from SOILWORK to FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH to KILLSWITCH ENGAGE to DEMON HUNTER with obvious stints from European masters such as ENGEL or even TEXTURES in their most Melodic ways, updated by intercourse with electronic loops, powered by a few synthetic gimmicks in the MNEMIC tradition and mostly a comparable mania in the hypnotic sharp riffage.

This slight industrial progressiveness flavors in their sound is a real stints of fresh air, indeed an efficient way to escape monotony ("The Longing"), obviously most of the arrangements and structures are cleverer than your regular Metal Core/Neo Metal stuff, enhanced by a much more melodic instinct to ("Deadhead ") not unlike compatriots MERCENARY ("Adrian"/"silent inferno" / "Edge Of Devastation") or PITCHBLACK with only a few additional shot of testosterone, resulting in an obsessive fury of a pure adrenaline kick.

The MNEMIC connection is obvious because, the Lead Singer Michael Bøgballe was the MNEMIC frontman for their most acclaimed period, their glorious heydays with "Mechanical Spin Phenomena" and he quits after "Audio Injected Soul" in 2005...His voice is still very strong and his performance is the icing on the cake ! The band is back with sophomore album after their acclaimed debut, "Mirror Faced Mentality" that was out through Scarlet Records in September 2008, a platter that won for them "Debut Album of the Year" at the Danish Metal Music Awards...

Let's be prepared in early June, the new record will hit the stores in the same impressive manner as ever, reinforced by a fine, state of the art production, under a Full dynamic range and a ultra high resolution in the sonic treatment , this new disc recorded at the legendary Antfarm Studio and produced by knobs living legend Tue Madsen (MNEMIC / HATESPHERE / THREAT SIGNAL), showing once again a fierce devotion to Metal, a nasty behavior, a fuck-off attitude, a middle finger sign to the establishment, to the Propaganda and to the politically correct thoughts.

My favorites tracks are probably "No Surrender", "Organism", and the astounding opening "The Broken 20/20"... Even if "Adrian" is the most inspiring of all. These cuts are first class, and as the rest of the tracklist, it's bloody heavy, yet it contain many Groovy numbers, a few softer sections, showing a great determination and a bold rebellious spirit.
