After the Fall From Grace (Reissue)

It never ceases to amaze me that a band like SAVAGE GRACE didn't make superstar status, as their brand of classic US Metal is more than outstanding. No, even though they did get a lot of attention ate the time, somehow, they slipped into the background and were only remembered by the hard-core fans of the eighties. Like so many of their contemporaries, they became a part of the forgotten scene. Thankfully, like with NWOBHM, the US Metal bands that once were are making themselves known again, as the interest for them to come out and play around the world is increasing by the year. Even Covid-19 hasn't diminished that urge.
Now they have their best tow albums rereleased through Hammerheart Records, and they have done a really proper job at it. On two CDs you get a lot of very good music, with at the heart of it all the album "After The Fall From Grace". It is in its original form on the second disc, but in a remastered version on CD 1. And yes, there is a definite difference. Of course, the studio techniques have advanced considerably throughout the years, and it shows. The remastered album still has all the ingredients that the original had, so very good US Metal with a lot of melody, but still remaining quite heavy.
So, for over two hours in total you are submitting yourself and opening up to very well played US Metal. Not only the album sounds great, so does "Ride Into The Night". The songs on the EP are all of outstanding class, and the SAVAGE GRACE version of "Burn" is one for the books, as I've never heard this song in such a US Metal way. Impressive. "Mainline Lover", taken from the 1991 compilation, has more of an old-fashioned feel. It could even have been a THE RODS song, especially because of the harmony vocals. The two live songs only show how rough SAVAGE GRACE were live. They are just going all out, and any mishaps aren't covered up. Which is how it should be.
As a conclusion I can say that "After The Fall From Grace" is one hell of a rerelease and that Hammerheart have done themselves proud. I sincerely hope that this puts SAVAGE GRACE back on the radar of a lot of US Metal enthusiasts, as it is the least that this band deserves.
