Sarayasign - Throne of Gold album cover

The Swedes just don't care what kind of music they play, somehow they are always able to produce bands that have that little bit of an edge that makes them stand out in a crowd. That is mainly due to the fact that the youth is actually encouraged to play music as much as they can. It gives the means and opportunity to practice a lot, refine their talents and make sure that everybody gets to try and do what they are good at. To me that sounds a lot better than giving them firearms training. If only more countries would follow that rule. SARAYASIGN is a band with their headquarters in Örebro. And they play Melodic Rock, so the choice of record company is quite appropriate.

The Melodic Rock on "Throne Of Gold" is of a very high quality. The songs don't seep into your brain, no, they attack it with venom! All the tunes are well put together, recorded and now they have been put on this album, it is a fact that you (or at least I) just can't stop listening to "Throne Of Gold". As to SARAYASIGN doing anything different than anyone else, absolutely not. But they are treading on those much-walked paths with a lot of respect for the music and remaking what they can to the highest order. If you wish to find a direction, think of RAINBOW from 1980 onwards, QUEENSRŸCHE, but also music by JEFF SCOTT SOTO and GLENN HUGHES.

That last name was chosen deliberately, as singer Stefan Mykvist is quite versatile. Whether he tries to be harder, or more melodic, he just hits the Nailon the head every time. And although he might have a brilliant voice of his own, there are times that he does resemble The Voice Of Rock. He just doesn't have the reach to go as high as GLENN HUGHES does. Or, if he does, he absolves from using it. Whatever, because the music is so good and the voice in complimenting that to the umpteenth degree, there is no other conclusion to draw from listening to "Throne Of Gold" than to say that SARAYASIGN is a name to be reckoned with. So, if you are a full-blooded fan of Melodic Rock, and you like your music to be clean, well-played, properly recorded and of a very high quality, I would say that you really can't go wrong with SARAYASIGN and their "Throne Of Gold".
