High On Fire
Sainted Sinners

So this is the fifth album for Sainted Sinners which has taken over three years to make, this is the first album on their new record label Roar. The international supergroup which is made up of original band members Frank Pane (Bonfire) and Berci Hirlemann. For "High On Fire" they are joined by Jack Meille on vocals (Tygers Of Pang Tang),Samy Saemann (Bass ex Freedom Call) and Ernesto Ghezzi (Keyboards, Gotthard). Previous studio albums include "Taste It" in 2021,"Back With Vengeance" in 2018 with the self-titled album released back in 2017.Sainted Sinners are known for delivering 70's & 80's style Hard Rock with Whitesnake,Deep Purple and Van Halen Vibes, with an uplifting energy,a positive attitude & hook filled riffs "High On Fire" invites the listener to embrace the joy of rock.
A narrative passage to the opening track "Crown Of Thorns" gives off a moody & eerie setting, which leads into some dominating guitar riffs and heavy driven drums to deliver a NWOBHM style track but with the Hammond Organ giving the track a progressive element too."Out Of The Blue" gives me more of an 80's glam metal feel, but the organ makes the track melodic, the chorus is catchy, with a neat guitar solo."Night After Night" hits a bit harder, the more chugging heavier riffing, again the key touches give a more melodic edge and the rhythm & solid vocals equate to an arena filling rocker.Next track up "Sunshine" has a groovy, funky feel from off,the soulful riffs and melody flow with some calmer rhythm, which in turn creates a catchy album track."Empty Days Of Wonder" starts with some great guitar melodies which weave around this ballad style track with Jack Meille seizing the moment with a strong vocal. The album title track has a fiery sounding start but once the melody kicks in, a Van Halen influenced track, which is an uptempo rocker with a punchy chorus with a American Hard Rock sound.
"Down In A Hole" is another Classic Rock rocker with a simple sing a long chorus, while "Hide In The Dark" has a surprising orchestral intro, before kickstarting into a solid rocker with an harmonic chorus,a short lived track at under 3 minutes but it hits the spot."Super Sweet Addiction" with some deep bass, scorching guitar runs add some flare to this 70's style track, with "Lost In A Storm" with some more heavier riffs,a track which is a bluesy.moodier number with some heavier riffage in places.A cover of The Who classic "Who Are You" brings this album to a close,a great effort with good vocals and musicianship doing the classic track justice. "High On Fire" is a good album,it captures the sound of Classic 70's & 80's Classic Rock very well. The songs on the whole are great and it's a great listen, which will be greatly received by fans of this genre. For me personally I don't think that I will go back to it as much as other albums, although it is a solid effort, there's just that little spark missing for me at times to make it a classic, I've heard better albums from other bands or artists. However don't let that deter you,it's still a solid effort.
