Saille - Gnosis album cover

If you're not too familiar with SAILLE, I shall provide you with a brief introduction. Their style can be categorised as epic, melancholic, kind-of-beautiful Atmospheric and Symphonic Black Metal. That's kind of what they have been doing on all of their previous material, and the same goes for their newest record, entitled "Gnosis".

Through the release of "Irreversible Decay" back in 2011, they established a sound of their own, creating a unique blend of incredible riffs, beautiful, harmony-full atmospheres, and brutally enjoyable vocals. Being that that was their debut, they have evolved much in those 6 years since they have released their first full-length studio record.  Although active since May 2008, I think that they still deserve some recognition of what they do - for they do not get enough of.

"Ritu", their second album (2013) was kind of okay, just like its successor "Eldritch" (2015). This band doesn't seem to need a lot of time to produce quality material, however, they really did their best on the newest record, released via Code666 Records on March 13th, 2017. It has 9 tracks, and spins on the turntable for around 45 minutes. I haven't heard such quality Black Metal, touched by some symphony, since I have heard CARACH ANGREN a few years ago, which leads to the conclusion that this band grew a lot in my eyes - even though I have never heard of them before.

Their new record starts off with "Benei ha'Elohim", which is an okay song, and I liked it for the fact that it doesn't mess around a lot, and jumps into the music quickly. The music is brutal, swift, the vocals are mostly classical and the symphonies are extreme. It's not that typical combination of pure, raw Black Metal and classic symphony, but more of a hybrid of the two, which creates a haunting atmosphere, led by the brutal and nasty vocals. This is basically art on a higher level.

If you're searching for something new, refreshing and unique, give SAILLE a go. Also, if you like this band, make sure to also check out the following bands: CARACH ANGREN, VESPERIAN SORROW & DARKEND.
