Another Pride & Joy Music reissue in the Pride And Joy Classix Series. The first of two reissues from Sacred Season. Sacred Season are a Melodic Rock band from Raisdorf near Kiel in Northern Germany. They were formed by Marco Shultz and Oliver Kukla in 1986 playing in a garage, realising that bass and keyboards were crucial to their sound Bjorn Gust and Thomas Rohwedder both joined the ranks before Rohwedder left the band soon after with Wulf Rathke joining the band a little later. The band recorded two demos “Sacred Season” in 1988 followed by “Taste Of Paradise” in 1990. A major German record label offered the band a record deal but they had to sing in German and replace all band members except Schultz, but friends don't do that. They appeared at the first Wacken Festival in 1990,and also at the 25th anniversary Wacken in 2014.

I Won't Forget” is a pleasant enough opening track some nice AOR tones an OK track the chorus is quite catchy as well as the melody, the instrumental funky affair at the end of the track for me is pointless and not needed. “Only For You” and “Kawa - Taking The Last Breath” are acoustic driven numbers the first is chilled mellow affair, harmonic in the chorus, the latter is a ballad some nice clear vocals with that deep bass groove with a bluesy guitar solo.”Wings Of Love” finally gives us a faster tempo, rockier side to the band something with a bit more pizazz. “Lose My Pride” is a smooth subtle mellow affair soulful vocally, also melody wise,”The Chance” again is more of the same, with a nice guitar sol and runs, the deep bass adds depth and dynamics.”Change Your Heart” at over 7 minutes long is a bit too repetitive for me,sounds great vocally and musically, but would have been more impactful if it was shorter.”Take Away The Pain” and “Tomorrow” have again that mellow tempo and style, harmonies and keys.”Take Me Home” finally a track with a bit more edge and grit more crunchier riffs, rhythm a bluesy deep bassline with edgier vocals.”Childhunter” is along the same lines with melodic touches.”I've Been In Love Before” is a piano lead ballad with some tender emotional vocals to end this album with a touching feel.

This album is limited to 500 copies and will be welcomed by Sacred Season fans and those avid CD reissue collectors out there. I enjoyed the album but I found it a little too mellow in parts for me all the songs sounded a bit too much alike. The edgier material was great I just would have liked to see a bit more of it.Overall a good album on the whole.Another welcomed reissue, worth a listen and addition to your cd collection.
