REVOLUTION WITHIN are a Portugal-based band and I'm about to showcase just how awesome their new album actually is. Its name is "Annihilation", and damn, this album is incredibly powerful! I'm saying this from the heart (as a Metal fan who rarely listens to Thrash): this album is simply incredible. The powerful vocalisations, the riffs, the drums, everything is incredibly fast and full of energy.
The title track "Annihilation" is a sick track, and this band without a doubt starts out kicking heads off with their music. The track begins with some amazing, Groovy yet mostly Thrash-influenced vocals, extreme riffs; everything that's slightly typical for this genre, but still on point, and never boring to the listener.
I don't like the cover art, but that's just a weak opinion, since what else could be used to express the title? It's solid, a bit boring on first look but I must say that the music behind it is much, much better. This is exactly the type of Thrash Metal you would expect from some crazy people from Portugal!
The 10-track album has some interesting song names, and almost all of them remind me of "wannabe" movie titles; but that's kind of a compliment. The second track, "A Fortress Around My Fate" is a bit more Thrash-influenced whilst still remaining pretty Groovy on the vocal side. Some solos can be heard throughout the first two tracks, and no doubt later too.
The fact that the band instantly reminded me of SEPULTURA is actually awesome, right? Goddamn it is. The band have been active since 2005, and almost no one reviewed them, since they are pretty underground; and that the only place that you'd find a band that has existed for more than a decade without being reviewed. By the way, if you liked the sound of REVOLUTION WITHIN, you should totally check out a band from the same country called SWITCHTENSE.
