Hailing from Russia, the Shoegaze quartet describes the album as “four songs about what it's like to lose loved ones, miss, grieve, hope for the best, fight for your existence, accept the inevitable and accomplish the impossible. Four songs about what it is to "Жить" ("Live"). The first song is titled “Мемантин.” Bright guitar tones and supporting bass lead off the song, with a solemn feeling. The vocals ease in slowly, and are sung in a monotone, depressive way, like an endless stretch of grey, rainy days. “Розовые Сны” represents the constant fight between insecurity and acceptance. The thick guitar riffs in the background are the insecurities, and the bright notes struggling to get out is the acceptance. The balance is so delicate that even the slightest breeze could push it one way or the other.

 “Башни” sees the cloudy skies clear up for a spell in favor of bright, golden sunshine at first, but the rays waiver as the song continues, settling into another grey landscape. Here in the mundane is where most of us live. We get up, go to work, come home, rinse and repeat, ad nauseum. It’s the color of life. “Нерест” closes the album, with a favorable tone. It’s that welcomed rescue against the pain of life, reminding us, if only for a few moments, that there is more good in the world then bad. This is a concept that keeps many of us going, and pushing ahead, looking forward to the smaller things in life, like a good meal, a day spend with loved ones, or even a nap. Sometimes, this is the only peace we get.

 Soak in the album cover. The color purple is associated with a variety of meanings, including wisdom, creativity, royalty, power, ambition, and luxury. It can also represent magic, extravagance, peace, pride, independence, and wealth. The shades are much lighter however, and the deep colors seem to be faded. For me, this represents how much of our daily lives hang in the balance, and how we do our best to deal with grief, loss, and the mundane. We swallow hard, cry at times, and push through.
