Through Pain
Prophets Tomb

Worshipers! Kings! Rulers! We are PROPHETS TOMB, a Death Metal band from the Denver Colorado area. We combine elements from Black Metal, Death Metal, and Progressive Metal to form a fully new sound. We first presented ourselves with our debut album "The Third Wave," "Magni Mori," and now "Through Pain.." Come with us on your journey towards a new life after all, Through Pain, Life is Reborn... Journey with us and the rest of the Magni Mori on a path of rebirth. Ave Magni Mori! Ave per dolorum! Ave Adramalech! The album has seven songs, and “Play Me” is first. It’s a short instrumental lead-in, and it has harrowing sound, both in the background and in your face. “Beartrap” is the first proper song. There is a heavy, weighted sound, from downtuned guitars, and some of the vocals are slightly cadenced. I wouldn’t say it’s madness necessarily, but the wheels are nearly coming off the machine. “Pit of Needles” is another slow and heavy grind. The song is primarily riff driven, and these riffs are sick. In an interesting twist, the vocals are clean at times, and harmonized, but there is a dissonance to them that can’t be ignored.
“Gift of Life” is a bit more well rounded. The sound is thick, and tinged with dark melodies, and there are symphonic elements in the background. There are even some near jovial elements, although they are somber. “Last Man Standing” has harrowing elements and thick, meaty bass notes. The weighted grind of the guitars reminds me of a machine like a tank slowly crushing the bones of its enemies. “Shattered Glass Coffin” is another slow mover, and each weighted note seems calculated for maximum effectiveness. Those bass notes are thick, bossy, and seem to stretch throughout the entire song. “Pound of Flesh” closes the album, and it sports sad, melancholy tones, and a hopeless existence. This album was filthy, sludgy, and sounded like it came from the swaps of Louisiana. Besides the sheer weight of their sound, which is noteworthy, they were also able to work in some supporting elements that gave the album depth. It wasn’t overly complicated, but just enough, to keep the listener on their toes, and provide some sugar that they want to come back for.
