PROJECT RENEGADE is an alternative metal band from Athens, Greece founded and put together by front woman Marianna, and drummer Ody. The sounds they produce derive from elements of different genres such as alternative and electronic metal with influences of rock at times. Their newest album "Order of the Minus" is out on all platforms as of October 31^st, 2019.

The first song "The Big Boss" is just an introduction track with a voice clip talking and shedding some insight on concentration camps. The second track "Liber8" is where we begin to hear the full band with the drums leading the way in the intro. It's more of a buildup than anything, which leads you into the vocals of Marianna delivering powerful messages. "Products of War" starts out with some guitar riffs that lead into a more groovy sound filled with harmonics from the guitars. "The New Joker" begins very slowly, then hits you in the face with blast beats and heavy guitar chugging. The rhythm throughout will keep your head moving and keep you intrigued. The vocals from Marianna compliment the band very well to give you a sound that frankly, you don't hear very much anymore.

"The Strain" starts out with that metal influence that they talk about heavily. Alternate picking and fast drumming is what speaks during the first thirty seconds or so. Towards the end, it slows down a bit and the relaxing vocal style takes over. "Respirator" begins with what sounds like a voice clip of an actual respirator. The electronic influences takes over just as the vocals begin to enter then disappears. "Black Mountain" is the last and final track on the record and at first I thought I had to turn my headphones up but that's just how the song begins. Very slow and quiet, but then around two minutes in it begins to shift, and the guitars enter with some chugging and the song ends on a high note compared to how it started.

Overall, PROJECT RENEGADE has a lot of potential and talent as a band. I feel like they could grow and become bigger than they already are because they produce a unique sound that isn't heard very often anymore with a lead female vocalist. The balance it gives through each of their songs is nearly perfect for alternative metal, and if you haven't already checked them out, I suggest you do, and give "Order of the Minus" a listen. If you're a fan of this type of metal/rock, I doubt you will be disappointed.
