The Wounded Healer
Preyrs

PREYRS, a visceral new force in alternative rock and metal, is the brainchild of Belfast rock artist Amy Montgomery and drummer/producer Michael Mormecha. Fusing raw alternative rock energy with the weight of metal, their music is an electrifying clash of aggression and euphoria, darkness and uplift, chaos and control. Their forthcoming album is a cathartic journey through resilience and transformation, where healing and rage collide in perfect harmony. For those seeking the epic, the healing, the aggressive and the unrelenting pulse of alternative rock and metal, PREYRS is it.
"Wave of Wisdom" is the first proper track. It's a little dark, mainly from the heavy electronic blueprint, but the vocals are melodic. It's short lived, but energetic, and Amy has an excellent voice. "Into the Blue" has a hasty sound, almost as if you are chasing something that you just can't catch. Amy's vocals are sultry, and the chorus has a big punch. "Zeros, One's & Lies" has a heavy, electronic bottom end where the vocals dance overtop, and at times they swell with emotion. Meaty bass notes help to thicken it up, and some of the music is just a bit dissonant as well. "Crucify" also has a fuzzy electronic sound, but once it gets going, it is fired up. "Find you, that is where the answer is," she sings. The vocal harmonies are on point also.
"Change Change" begins with guitars and vocals that are emotive. Thick bass notes mix in, and again, it has that "chasing your tale" feeling which hooks you in from the start, and some fuzzy leads add flavor. "Nova" is tentative, and has a more straightforward melody line that you can ride out like a wave. The lead breaks are strong as well, and so is her level of emotion in the singing. "W.D.I.F.L_." has more electronic tones, but this time, it's augmented with some piano work. The scope is still a bit dark, like a cloudy day. "Life is Kind" is the final offering, and it leaves the album on both an emotional and positive note.
I have to remind myself that sometimes, music is supposed to be fun and energetic, and that's what "The Wounded Healer" by PREYRS is for me. It's not overly complicated, and it's dark enough to be interesting, and uses a bevy of emotions during the journey. Amy has an excellent voice as well.
