Plasmodium - Towers Of Silence album cover

PLASMODIUM are a psychedelic black metal band from Melbourne, Australia. The band are no strangers to the world of black metal having formed back in 2016 and weren't wasting anytime getting into the studio as they finished that same year off with their debut studio album "Entheognosis" in December. After a lengthy spell of just over four years, the band are back with their second release "Towers Of Silence" via Transcending Obscurity Records in April of 2021.

This album is packed with five psychedelic tracks for fans to enjoy, although it is only five tracks long this album isn't a short one by any means as it reaches a length of just over three quarters of an hour. It is loaded with energy and intensity from the get-go with dark, demonic vocals, chaotic drums and intense guitar playing and hard-hitting bass tones.

Prior to the release of this album the band released one single and it is the albums closing track titled "Vertexginous" which was released in February of 2021. The single is a long one, almost thirteen minutes in length but is not even the longest track on the record as it comes following the incredibly long eighteen-minute powerhouse track that is "Translucinophobia". Combined the two last tracks on this album actually take up over two thirds of this album's length.

The track "Vertexginous" has a unique sound to it, it's got quite an ambient sound to it, the first quarter of the track is fairly instrumental based with the vocals coming in in the fourth minute with a very distorted effect on them that I can't quite pin down the sound before the track gets brought to a very low and slow ending for the last almost five minute, or so one would think as the drums are brought back to life to give a short thirty second burst of chaos to end the album off.

Having listened to this album in it's entirety I can say that if you're into psychedelic sounding black or death metal or you're just a fan of drum-heavy chaotic music this album is definitely one worth checking out for sure and this band is definitely to keep an eye on as they progress in their career.
