This is the debut release of the Hyvinkaa, Finland Power Metal Band. They have been at it since 2014 and after 5 long years of hard work, they have finally gotten this album out! I may or not be a spoiled Power Metal fan. Let's face it I was bombarded by bands and albums in the mid to late nineties. I might not have been the biggest Power Metal fan back them (my older brother was). I discovered so many bands back then and as a Metal fan since 1993, I was not keen on the style and it took me a number of years to truly appreciate some of the bands (let's be honest, not all bands are good). I may have been out of the loop a bit in the last few years in the genre.
I have broadened my horizons so to speak and I do listen occasionally to some Power Metal and I do crank my stereo sometimes while listening to some of the classics I grew up with. So that may be one of the reasons why I tend not to be impressed with what is out there nowadays. Like I said, I may have been too spoiled for my own good. They channel a lot of their Finnish Power Metal counterparts. Let's face it, Finland and Sweden have been the breeding grounds for bands of this genre since the early 90's. They pretty much structured the whole genre to what we hear nowadays.
This is young and raw talent. The band is an up and coming juggernaut and do have a lot of promise. Is it original? Not in the slightest but it's really highly enjoyable and you know what, that's the basis of any music genre. Music has this ultimate power of making people happy, making people headbang or just tap their toes. It has this power that overcomes the person, sometimes it's overwhelming to be honest. A close friend of mine once wrote : ''If anyone tells you a song is important to them, you should turn it up loud, close your eyes and really listen because at the end, you will know that person much better''. Music is what drives us, escapes the monotony of our hardworking lives.
This album packs a punch, it's traditional Power Metal mixed in with some classic Traditional Metal. It's like a mix between STRATOVARIUS and PRIMAL FEAR. It's not going to reinvent the wheel but it's going to make you happy just by listening to it. This is the standard in these types of albums and it's never boring. It may lack the originality but to be honest, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. It's a highly enjoyable album from a new back that is just starting out. I wish them the best of luck for the future.
