Remnants Of Horror: The Final Cut
Percussor

From The EPK: PERCUSSOR return one last time unleashing "Remnants Of Horror: The Final Cut"! Originally released in 2017, the initial version didn't quite capture the true feelings and atmosphere that was originally intended by the band. With the help of Mike Usifer (PRIME EVIL), PERCUSSOR have reopened this recording to bring the true vision and concept the third release truly deserved, and completing the full discography. The fact that this is Old School Death Metal (at high speeds) becomes very clear from the first second until the last one. In a little over 36 minutes, you are inundated with Heavy rhythms, very low sounding guitars, thundering bass and furiously pounding drums. On top of that as really menacing grunt, which competes the absolute and intimidating sound that is part of "Remnants Of Horror: The Final Cut".
If you haven't heard of PERCUSSOR before, do not panic, as neither had I. It turns out that the band is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA and they have been making their kind of noise since 1996. Well, until 1998, that is, when they disbanded, only to resurrect themselves again in 2013. Now they have survived another 12 years. Their debut album "Proclamation Of Hate" was released in 2015, followed a year later by "Disturbing Reality". Wait another year, and that brings the original version of "Remnants Of Horror". In 2018 they gave us the EP "Nostalgic Decay" before rereleasing their third album in 2019, naming that one "Remnants Of Horror Redux". 2020 saw another EP come to the surface, "Desperate To Expire". Then, very uncharacteristically, we have to skip a year and head to 2022 before the band releases another album, "Ravenous Despondency". And now, after a massive hiatus of three years (!), PERCUSSOR is back with "Remnants Of Horror: The Final Cut".
I have to say that if this is a blueprint of what the band is capable of, it will be very interesting to look back and discover their other releases. Because if one thing becomes clear it is that not only the sound is top notch, the songs are very good too. They harbour an atmosphere that will take you past the deepest dungeons into the gates of Hell. And I know I mentioned that PERCUSSOR plays fast, and they do, at least most of the time. And that all sounds fine. But there is one song on "Remnants Of Horror: The Final Cut" where they are outstanding. It is a slower song that even treats us to some Progressive elements mixed in with bloody impressive Death Metal sounds. That one is "Vile Aggression". For me that is a true classic in the making.
