It was a sunny Saturday morning, so I decided to go for a walk and buy a dozen or two of new and old releases.  I left for the end a friend's music store. The first thing he said was -not good morning but- I have the new NIGHTSTALKER album.. You should have seen the smile in my face when I saw the CD in his hands. Well, some of you may ask who they are, and I will answer one of the many underestimated bands upon this planet.

Argy (and the drummer at that time, Hill) found the band somewhere in the beginning of 1990, through clouds of smoke. From that time, their reputation grew in the underground Greek scene mainly by their live performances. NIGHTSTALKER's first release, was an EP in 1995, called SideFx. The band recorded its first full length album, Use (it's been re-released in 2007) in 1994 and one year later Hill left the band and thus they continued as a trio. With the start of the new millennium, they had their new EP ready, The Ritual. Another lineup change took place, when Tolis joined the band. So, after five years, the dinosaurs, if I may say, of Stoner in Greece, NIGHTSTALKER, are back with their long waited from their numerous fans third full length Superfreak, that is already out.

More spacey than their previous releases, but still groovy, Superfreak starts with a nice chilling intro. Just like the calm before the storm. And the storm begins with Argy's first scream. By that moment I hit the stop button. I had to grab a beer, whiskey, something! Their Stoner is, fortunately, not something new and innovative. It is just what a fan of this music genre wants. They have found the path that they want to follow and they don't oblique in other kinds of music. The band is alive for almost 20 years and they know what they want: To play pure Stoner that is full of smoke and alcohol. The production is one of the best I've ever came across from a Greek band and this helps the album to show its potentials. Argy's voice is in top form and so is the rest of the band. I really loved the bass lines that in some points, they reminded me the one and only Geezer Butler. If someone wanted to talk about the best moments of this album, he would say that those are Baby, God Is Dead, Heavy Mental and Stain, but I really think that all the songs are of the same level.

So, what are you doing reading this review? You should have already bought this album, grabbed some beers and put the volume to maximum! I am sure that if those guys where from the U.S.A. and not from Greece, many people would talk about them. Damn, I ran out of whiskey. I'm going to grab another bottle and listen to Superfreak one more time. And as they say in their myspace page Satanic drugs from outer space. Hell yeah!
