Neuronspoiler - No One's Safe album cover

Reading the description of NEURONSPOILER on the Biography that came with the CD and looking at the artwork I could never for my life make out what this was all about. This is a London based quintet but all members originate from different countries and all have different musical background it says. Furthermore the music is described as a combination of the pumping strength of Heavy Metal, the Headbanging precision of Thrash and the taste and feel of Classic Rock. I had to borrow the description because it's right on.

It's a very interesting mash of styles and vibes. The base of "No One's Safe" is a really pleasant Classic Heavy Metal with a quite modern sound. And the sound and production is what keeps this release together because the songs differ quite much in style. Sure, it's a nice way to show your skills but it bothers me a little. It feels more like a show off EP rather than something that's real, from the heart. For example, the opening track "The Outcry" is a mixture of that early 90's a little bit Funky Hardrock and a touch of MEGADETH, the second one "Lost Brother" screams Swedish pride LOST HORIZON, "Cataclysm" is a really nice instrumental piece with classic roots, BLACK SABBATH and RAINBOW comes to mind.

"Updated Subjugation" could easily fit on a DANZIG album looking at the verses but the chorus line is quite different, very melancholic and melodic. And then the closer "Words, Words, Words" is more towards the filthy Sleaze and Glam Rock scene. So with that said. The good things though is that NEURONSPOILER has managed to write five really catchy and groovy tracks, great musical skills and very nice song structures so there's absolutely talent in this band. It could have been even better with a more narrow direction.

Even if all songs are really good, really, really good for a first "No One's Safe" EP it feels like they're still searching for their identity. But with the quality of this one it will be very interesting to see what NEURONSPOILER will offer in the future.
