From Bandcamp, "the band live is a heavy, cosmic, out experience. I, Voidhanger and Utech Records are happy to team up on this beautiful recording from the Belgian collective's European tour in 2021. This document was recorded by Nico Van Montfort at Doornroosje in Nijmegen, NL. Over ten tracks and 66 minutes, it offers a glimpse into their psychedelic universe via atmospherics, spirituality and mystery. The album is an allegory of death, or memento mori, a reminder of both the transience of earthly life and the universality of death. In the twinkling of an eye, the listener is taken on an exotic journey of the mind where substance is human no more." The album has ten tracks.

"Sustain" is the first. Voices...from everywhere. They sound like a ritual of some sort, and some of them sound like animal noises. It segues into "ZÂR : Empowering The Phurba : Éon Phanérozoïque," which has some light percussion and bass notes amidst the odd background noises. Sax notes mix in, and this has the feeling of some free jazz, but it is very dark. "VAJRABHAIRAVA : The Summoning (Nasatanada Zazas !)" is another moodier offering of deep background sounds combined with odd instruments that are uncommon and hard to detail. The sound gradually grows and swells into a cacophony of chaos.

"VAJRABHAIRAVA : The Great Wars of Quaternary Era Against Ego" is another odd song that could put you in a trance, if you are not careful. Through half of the album now, this is what we are going to get...mesmerizing, strange "music" but carry that term loosely. "Ol SONUF VAORESAJI ! La Sixième Extinction de Masse : Le Génocide Anthropocène " is yet another really strange song. I can appreciate avant-garde music, or even music without boundaries. But this is so far out there that I am not sure I could detail their audience. "Neptune Rising" hears the dark and eerie sounds continue. It's a stretch to even call this music, though you can credit the band for their unique creativity.

"The Conference Of The Stars - (Part One : Cleopatra That Goddess)" has a more straightforward and traditional sound of a "song." It's bluesy, lumbering, and doomy in scope. Part two is faster and sees the band showcase some real skill in their instruments. It whips up into a frenzied soup of various body parts in stages of decomposition. "Neptunian's Raga Marwa" closes the album. It's about as fitting as a closer could be, considering the album as a whole. I,Voidhanger has some of the most unique artists out there, and I usually find their uniqueness to be quite pleasing. But I'm not sure if this even qualifies as "music" the way the lay person defines it. Strange, strange sounds.Purchase Link:
