Near Death Condition - Evolving Towards Extinction album cover

NEAR DEATH CONDITION is a brutal ass Death Metal band from Switzerland. These guys know their Death Metal and their chocolate. (hehe) "Evolving Towards Extinction" is the group's third full length album, and it is insane. These guys are certainly everything you would want from a death metal band. The music is fast as all hell, brutal, and they even throw in some symphonic tidbits here and there. Yes, they are well rounded, and have a full sound. The vocalist has a decent range of lower death growls and screams. All together the album is very intense, with hints of black poking out here and there. I would say these guys are comparable to BEHEMOTH in a lot of the stylings heard.

The vocals are all harsh, which is perfect for the crazy fast and brutal sound they have. The vocalist, as mentioned before, has some very deep guttural growls, but also peeks into some slightly higher screams. The guitars are just sick. They are as heavy as can be, quick, and devilish. The drum work is intense, very fast. Some of the double bass is just incredible. (And I don't say that lightly.) The music is a good bit intricate too. Putting all the elements together we simply have the perfect death metal band on our hands. There is nothing timid about these guys, hell no! Damn that double bass is fast. Sorry, onwards. The overall sound is dark and brutal. There's no way of getting around it. They do switch it up though, not falling into that repetitive sink hole in which some of the more brutal bands get stuck.

All in all I definitely enjoyed the whole album. It was just sick from beginning to end. I think this will be my new gym music, because it can certainly get you pumped. Even though this is one of the more brutal groups I have listened to lately, I like that it isn't repetitive. It kept my interest from start to finish. The speed of the drums is sick as well, and the guitar work completely compliments that. I can hear a nice variety of influences in the music. I recommend these guys to anyone who like it heavy, brutal, and nasty.
