Osmose Productions present you the new NATTVERD album, a more dynamic album than their last, due to having challenged the core, while staying true to the spirit that is the band. They have pushed some boundaries, which has resulted in more diverse tracks, that touches a
lot on melancholy, even more aggression, and epic moments. "Vandring" is actually the end of the 1349, "Black Death Trilogy," starting with the EP "Skuggen, Part.II" followed by "Styggdom," and this is the last part of it. The album contains eight tracks.

"Det Bloer Paa Alt Som Spirer" leads off the album. It opens with a few spoken words, then the chaotic sound ensues...vocal screams, a wall of guitars, and thunderous drumming. It settles down for a spell, really allowing the listener into their dark world. Screeching guitars take the song to completion. "Martyrer Av Kristus" is a four-minute track, with no less intensity. In fact, it might be more intense than the previous track. Antichristian is perhaps the most skilled member of the band, really holding down the drum kit very well.

"Naar Taaken Fortaerer Al" begins with some harmonic lead guitars and some background vocal chanting. From there, it's more chaos. But it settles for a few bars, with charming piano notes and strings. The heavy guitars return, but those piano notes keep playing. "Med Rive Og Lim" hears the chaos continue. The vocals are harrowing screams, held for more emphasis. There is a little touch of melody in the guitars, but it doesn't come through very strongly. I "Moerket Slumrer Ravnen" is unfortunately more of the same. Many of these tracks bleed together, and this is surely one that does.

"Gudsmenn, Deres Svik Erkjenn" is almost exactly like the other songs on the album. They really need to diversify their sound here. "Det Hvisker I Veggene" presents with a little diversity in the beginning...melancholic tones and the howling of a wolf. But even the guitar harmonies can't outweigh the aggressiveness of the vocals and the drums. It's a heavy, pounding sound that never ends.

"Langt Langt Der Borte I Det Fjerne" closes the album...eight minutes of old school Black Metal. It takes a pause around the half-way mark, but springs back to the original sound soon enough. Black Metal is one of the most polarizing genres out there. I like a lot of it, but it has to come from a place of innovation for me to really like it. To simply try to re-create the FWOBM is not good enough for me. There are some melodic and melancholic moments on the album, but they are few and far between. Overall, this isn't anything to get overly excited about.
