MR. JACK is a multi-instrumentalist from Italy that have released his first solo album "Long Rock" with some guest musicians as well and that's what we are going to talk about.
The opening song from the album "One Love" starts out with a catchy guitar melody and that will probably stick to your head as soon it starts to sound. The vocals are good, but I'm pretty sure that I have listened to a part where it was out of tune. The vocal lines from the chorus are good and the instrumental is cool, it reminded me of the 90's bands. "Mind Strange" and it starts with a groovy guitar riff followed by some cool keyboards played by Maestro Mistheria (played with Bruce Dickinson), there's also Tomas Valentini on the cool groovy bass lines, Raffo Albanese doing some vocals that helped the song to sound to have a different ambiance. This song has a DEEP PURPLE feeling and that's awesome.
Let's take a "Trip To Paradise" as it starts out with a cool piano and a voice narration until the song really starts. I liked how the piano sounds and the vocals here are good, I just think that the delay effect has affect the song in a bad way, as it keeps sounding in the background and it may be a little bit confusing. But it's a cool ballad. Now listen to my "Infernal Word" and this song was recorded by Mario Zeoli and it's a much heavier song from the previous ones. It has some cool riffs that reminded of KREATOR and a good keyboard work on the background that helped create the cool ambiance that you can hear on this song. This song has a fast guitar solo that could be one of the highlights on this one.
The song that gave its name to the album "Long Road" starts out with a cool steel acoustic guitar string that could easily drive you to a long road with a car or motorcycle in the sunset. It's a good ballad and the vocals on this one are really cool as they fit the melodies and instrumental parts. There's also a keyboard playing that gave the song a whole new ambiance. It's 80's Hard Rock classic ballad for sure. "Earthquake" starts out with a cool guitar played by Marco Angelo and it has a cool groovy. It's a cool song. Metal Head" has Freddy Delirio on keyboards, Valerio Edward de Rosa on the second guitar solo and Steve Volta on the first. The mix here was a little bit confusing as there's a lot of instruments and it is kind of hard to figure out which one is on the target.
The song that closes the album is "Rock Whrole" and it has Alessandro de Fusco on the lead guitar and solo. It starts out with a cool keyboard on the background and then you have some guitar melodies doing a solo. The riffs from the stanzas are pretty cool and the drums here are nice as well. The song ends with a never ending guitar solo, but it wasn't boring.
MR.JACK has written and released a good album with a lot of varieties on the songs, so it's not a boring album to listen to. I think that he has a lot of potential, but the production was a little bit different on each song and it gave the album a different kind of sound, also the vocal out of tune from the opening track was a little bit sad. But in a general way, it's a good material and I think that it has potential to improve and I hope that he can tour a lot with this cool team.
