METALITE is a Melodic Power Metal band from Stockholm Sweden. They were formed back in 2015 and this is already their third full-length album and second with lead singer, Erica Ohlsson. With AFM Records on board, they have already released a few music videos for this album that is coming out on the 26^th of March. They have quite the label behind them and the quality of their music videos is better than most Metal bands nowadays.

It's safe to say that this Power Metal band took a tangent in terms of lyrical themes for the genre. We are obviously used to the wizards, dragons, sorcerers, gemstones and whatnot so this is a pretty nice change of pace. They talk about the virtual world, the escapism that it brings to a lot of people out there. They talk about our dependence to technology, to the internet persay and how our lives revolve around something other than the real world itself. I have to say unfortunately that they stray from the path somewhat on this album. I would say that half of the album has that lyrical theme but the rest seems out of place or even all over the place. I would enjoyed more consistency and a more straightforward approach on the theme at hand.

Our lives intertwine with the virtual world in pretty much every way imaginable. I did enjoy ''Cloud Connected'' because it talks about data collection and our lives can be ruined in an instant if our virtual world is hacked. You can connect to anyone in the world, at any time of the day but your dreams can be smashed if something happens to your private information online. They talk about that growing fear inside that it may happen and you would be stuck for the rest of your days and traces of your life can be controlled by someone else.

The titular song talks about the fact that the life you create online is your safe home, your safe haven if you will. You can feel detached from the real world and heal your wounds while playing video games or just strolling on the internet. It's the real escapism of your tired life and stressful job. This virtual world keeps you alive for all eternity if you wish with videos you post on YouTube or whatnot, you leave an imprint in this digital world. Some people feel less lonely online and feel it's a way to live their lives their own way, releasing the peer pressure of real life behind for a few hours or so.

Like I said, it lacks some consistency, everything connected to the main theme is great but the rest is like thrown in for good measure. It does not have rhyme nor reason and it would have been an enjoyable ride if they could have stayed focused. As for the music, it's not something we have not heard before, it's typical Power Metal, nothing overly fancy, some good guitar work, catchy choruses but it gets old fast. There is no real progression or anything new to hear except for a damn good female singer that sings her heart out. There is not a lot of Power Metal bands with lead frontwoman so I thought it was great to see. You usually see it in Symphonic Metal so this was pretty cool honestly. One of the best and original Power Metal band out there is HELION PRIME and their lead frontwoman is absolutely fantastic. It's a nice change of pace but it's the same old same old Power Metal, you kind of get bored after a few songs even if the lyrical them is original. It's a good album but none too memorable unfortunately.
