KEITH JOSHUA HAM (1/10)

Having not heard many of the previous albums by the very well-known MEGADETH, I had some minuscule hope that this release would carry even some minimalistic thread of hope. No, however, this album from the beginning was completely effortless and I have no idea why this music is even under the heading of MEGADETH anymore. It is so bad that it doesn't even stand as the half-assed Rock album it is, however, my job wouldn't be complete without sadly telling you why this steaming pile smells so bad.

As I said, this isn't MEGADETH - this isn't even Metal. This album is about as menacing as a tea party on a Sunday afternoon. Frontman Dave Mustaine doesn't even care anymore; he basically just talks through the whole album in a melodic fashion - there is no passion, no edge, and no glory to be had from his vocals. The Lyrics he sings aren't any better, simply consisting of repeating the title over and over again and explaining it like the listener is completely unable to understand even the simplest aspects of the English language. Guitar work and drum work are both about as terrible, feeling like these songs were just too fast for MEGADETH and the tempo was cranked down to 'easy-listening' levels. I honestly think anybody could pick up a guitar and learn these songs without any pain whatsoever.

I don't often swear in my reviews but "Super Collider" is a steaming pile of Mega-shit. Dave Mustaine and whatever is left of MEGADETH are simply limping along and eating up whatever cool song titles they can for no apparent reason. So, I say - Mr. Mustaine, in what realm is the title "Super Collider" to be met with watered down uncaring vocals and horrifyingly amateurish song writing? So much for some superior force... this album is offensive. Any compliments given to this piece will simply be out of relief towards what is now a dying farce.

THE ZARTO (5/10)

MEGADETH is one of those bands that has make history not only for the music, but what lies behind it all, a story of love and hate that has put many fans in the limits of adoring them or despite them at all. And that is my point here: there's no "behind" on this album, not loving or hating at all, just another Metal record, and if you ask me (and I'm sure you won't) the war is where the heart is, and this is a heartless album.

I decided to give MEGADETH a chance because there has been so many years since they had an album that has really put my head banging and my heart pounding, and after listening "Super Collider" for a couple of times, I had just get lost along the music, and there's no sense in listening to this again, just for the name, or the good intentions put on the record, "Kingmaker" is a really bad single, and what can be expected, when they decide to make known something that bad?, no heart, no hate nor love for the record, just another try to revive memories with new things, and that is the lousiest point at all on this album: how many times a band has to make something bad to remember how good they were?.

For the rest is just to be said by you, the listener or the fan, diehards may even give a chance on this, some reminiscences lie along for the sake of good times, but as my point of view, this is going to be another good-selling album for people who is just starting, and what the hell? That is a fair way to begin on this; I really hate albums now that I used to love many years ago, and if this what has to be done, let it be... but please far away from me.
