Mean Street who formed in April 2016 is currently the leading and most representative Hard Rock/AOR band from Peru.Mean Street have found the perfect balance between the power of metal & the most melodic 80's rock.In December 2016 following the success of their first demo single "Set Me Free" .Mean Street performed at many festivals across the country, not only with local bands, but also major names such as Mike Vescera,SkullFist & Joe Lynn Turner. In February 2023 with a new line up  Mean Street began recording their debut album. In 2024 they were invited to support British AOR legends FM in Bogota Columbia for their final date of their first Latin America tour. The band list bands such as Def Leppard,Whitesnake,Survivor,VanHalen and Motley Crue as their main influences.

Mean Street have been on my radar since 2023 when I first heard "A Strange Kind Of Love".The album opens with "Love Will Bring You Down" which has some great opening atmospheric keyboards, then launching into a great melodic rhythm with some great riffs and elegant guitar runs, the chorus is big,the vocals have such a clean & clear tone. This album has an air of 80's nostalgia with the obvious influences "Strange Kind Of Love" which I've already mentioned is a great AOR/Melodic track opening with a nice deep bass lead in, then the pounding drum beat with the screaming guitar lick and we are off!,the catchy chorus, that heavy chugging riff and Dario Raviq's excellent vocals with Bruno Barboza letting go with a killer guitar solo, an excellent track."I'll Take The Blame" is a Survivor influenced track it's chilled,it's laid back,a late night style vibe, with a power ballad style. "Lookin' For Somethin" is a harder rocking track with balls! It has this infectious catchy guitar riff which is bolder & heavier, with another excellent solo, the drums & bass are bolder, with vocally there's more attitude, a great hair metal/arena rock track with traces of the Crue influence. The heavy short chugging riffs lead in of "Set Me Free" and we are back in the time machine for a journey to the best era for music with a 80's style Van Halen/Whitesnake style track, big chorus with some great harmonised backing vocals with the blazing guitar runs,"For So Long" is another classy Melodic track which flows through my speakers, rich melodies which are complimented with some great vocals. With the penultimate track "Risky Game" I get a Def Leppard Hysteria era vibe vocally Dario Raviq sounds similar Joe Elliot, with the melodies having an uncanny resemblance as well, which leads to a Leppard style chorus with the huge harmonising backing vocals,a great track which would have fitted nicely on Pyromania or Hysteria."Burning" brings this album to a conclusion a very upbeat rocking tempo track which some sharp riffs and pure energy which would fill an arena with nostalgic 80's Hard Rock.

This is a great debut album from Mean Street. All eight tracks are strong with no weak tracks. The vocals are excellent, the rest of the band are on fine form with the drums, guitar & bass. The production is on point. Its a shame there was only eight tracks,as the album finished it had me wanting more! If you love 80's style Hard Rock then look no further. "Never Too Late" has it in bucket loads ! The album is released through Good Time Music on 31st October.
