In Fabulis
Mandragora Titania

Hark! From distant realms of melody and might, the seven musicians of Mandragora Titania dost ride forth from Germany bearing their latest opus: In Fabulis "In Fables," as whispered by the tongues of olde. Verily, this be a revelrous tapestry of epic folk metal, a grand chronicle wrought in thunder and joy, a bardic storm of mirth and metal. Once known throughout the lands as Mandragora Thuringia, the band cast off their old mantle in the year 2025, reborn anew as Mandragora Titania. With one enchanted EP and two full-length tomes already in their legacy, In Fabulis now rises as their most ambitious and jubilant work to date.
From the first toll of the drum to the final cry of the choir, this hour long sojourn through enchanted woodlands and raucous taverns is naught but a feast for the soul. The album is masterfully conjured, a potion brewed of soaring symphonic choirs, thundering riffs forged in the forges of the mountain kings, and the wild jig of the dance folk spell. The journey begins with Incipit Fabula, a majestic choral piece, sweeping and powerful. It sets the stage with grace and might. Next comes Zinnsoldat, where the formidable harsh vocals of Andor Koppelin make their grand entrance, driving forward alongside pounding, addictive rhythms.
Rotes Tuch follows, with Andor spinning a rapid fire tale in fierce, biting tones, offset by layered clean vocals, spirited pipes, and vibrant folk melodies. And then Sasuke. Lo! When Sasuke begins, who among ye can remain still? Whether thou art drawn to the revel of a mead hall conga, the heathen ritual of headbanging, or the primal leap of battle dance, the spirit of joy compels thee. This is a call to revelry, to lose thyself in rhythm and rhyme. Dansen! The celebration continues with Meisterdieb, a foot-stomping tale woven through with infectious beats and irresistible energy, pulling you ever deeper into the dance.
With Herr vom Riesenstein, the tone shifts. The riffs grow heavier, the mood darker, deeper growls from Andor thunder over chugging guitars and a driving rhythm section. A hush falls with Sieben, a mostly instrumental and choral piece that begins with delicate fragile beauty. Slowly, the full band joins, building into a sweeping orchestral movement that rises to grand heights. The mood lifts again with Trollwettessen, a festive, upbeat number that practically demands laughter and tankards in the air, likely chronicling some mischievous trollish gathering in the wilds.
Adaba, Tamburan, Sand, and Schnee carry the tale onward through a rich tapestry of dance rhythms, soaring choruses, and shifting moods. Each track brings its own flavour, some joyous, some stirring, some serene. The album closes with Finis Fabulae, a beautiful and poignant finale. It begins with a gentle keyboard melody that blossoms into an orchestral soundscape. Like the quiet, golden light at the end of a perfect day. It lingers, haunting and peaceful, as the tale draws to a close.
In Fabulis is as if Korpiklaani and Finntroll did meet 'pon the mossy road, sharing ale and tales before setting fire to the stage. And yet, shadows of Eluveitie & Epica flicker through with heroic gravitas. The riffs strike with the fury of a thousand warhammers, yet oft do they entwine with bagpipes and accordion, the ancient tongues of music that stir the blood of peasants and knights alike. Though mine own tongue falters in the speech of the Germans, the tales are clear, of tankards raised in smoky halls, of fabled beasts, ancient glades, noble duels, and revels beneath the stars. One can nigh hear the roar of the crowd, flagons aloft, singing in one voice, feet stomping the earth as though to awaken the old gods.
In Fabulis touches every hue on the emotional spectrum a journey of fire, laughter, shadow, and light. It is, in every sense, a folk metal fable to remember. Let it be known: Mandragora Titania hath planted their standard firmly in the hallowed halls of folk metal, and In Fabulis shall echo through misty forests, mountain strongholds, and roaring feasting halls for many moons to come.
Raise thy horns high, for this band standeth proudly among the greats wielding their own alchemy of thunderous heavy folk metal, jubilant dance, and soaring symphonic splendour. A force both fierce and festive, Mandragora Titania have forged a sound that is wholly their own and the realm is all the richer for it.
