Malvada from Brazil formed in March 2020 during the pandemic quickly gaining attention from the Brazilian rock scene. January 2021 saw the release of their debut single “Mas Um Gole” which saw them gain more exposure which was followed by the 2nd single “Cada Escolha Uma Renuncia” which they followed up with their debut album “A Noite Vai Ferver”. During 2022 and 2023 Malvada did over 100 shows in numerous Brazilian cities, which included appearances at huge festivals such as Rock In Rio,Best Of Blues And Rock,Angra Fest & Charma Rock where they shared the stage with Extreme,Tom Morello as well as Brazilian bands such as Angra,Viper,Pity and Ira!.Signing with Frontiers Music in November 2023 promising to take the band to new levels with the goal to conquer the global market. This will be the bands first album in English/Portuguese produced by Brazilian Grammy award winner producer Gui Daga.

Starting off this S/T record “Down The Walls” has an industrial modern rock sound & appeal complete with some distorted guitar riffs ,underlined with a deep bass line with a good vocal.”Yesterday (My End,My Beginning)” has a catchy melody,a very commercial pop/rock style track which is catchy and appealing to any musical tastes. The first of three tracks in Malvada's Portuguese language “Veneno” which translates to “Venom or Poison” in English has great energy and melody.”Fear” with some orchestral touches is moody, dark, despairing & dramatic the melody complements the orchestral touches with a well controlled vocal from Indira Castillo. Next up we have “After” which has catchy guitar riffs and hooks & groove ,with raw attitude in the vocals.”Como Se Fosso Hoje” which I Googled! means “As It Were Today” is a more mellow acoustic guitar/piano led ballad is emotional, heartfelt and sincere with the guitar solo a nice touch courtesy of Bruna Tsuruda.”Bullerproof” has Juliana Salgado and Rafaela Reoli delivering a strong rhythm section with the deep bass and drum beats with the gritty guitar riffs making that menacing Malvada signature sound.”So Sweet” is another acoustic number which bring a soulful calmness to the record, the last track in the bands native language “Aversao” in English yep Google again! means “Dislike/Loathing” depends how you take it in context is a heavy modern track with energy.”I'm Sorry” is a a great modern edge contemporary rock song with again Indira Castillo with a great vocal & a classy guitar solo. The album ends with a great track “Dead Like You” which has some punk melody's and rhythm with an energetic tempo to end the album in style.

This is a very solid effort from Malvada who indeed have a great future globally. Their blend of modern hard rock certainly has appeal which can certainly be added to the list of women led bands/artists leading the charge in the rock scene. An album which has some great tracks with stellar production. Another great signing by Frontiers Music , an album definitely worth checking out excellent stuff!
