"Svn Eater" is the sophomore album by English Black / Death Metal act that goes by the highly unpronounceable name LVCIFYRE. This opus displays the band's hybrid style that blends Black Metal vocals, growls, Death Metal with a Death / Doom approach. Being new to this band, one wouldn't help but appreciate what the British Metallers have to offer with this release.
The nine minute long "Night Sea Sorcery" is an outstanding piece of the album and makes a great opening. The atmosphere is as creepy and grim as it gets. The creepy vocals kick off the album in a very slow pace that keeps building up slowly and gradually, gaining more aggression. The overall sound is sinister and bleak, to say the least. However on the following tracks, namely "Liber Lilith" and "Svn Eater" the slowness turns into fierce, breakneck speedy riffs shaping the musical style of this record which I would describe as Death replete with Black Metal elements and a touch of Doom.
The vocals go on as gruesome and beasty, the vigorous speed remains throughout the whole album. Everything is solid and right in place, showcasing LVCIFYRE's well-crafted and compelling songwriting. This album is probably what die-hard fans of the subgenre would seek.
