Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: LOTAN; signed via UPRISING! Records, hailing from Danish grounds - performing Melodic Black Metal, on their 2nd EP entitled: "Angelus Pestus" (released September 3rd, 2021).

The duo in question have only 2 EPs in their discography so far: "Acta Non Verba" (released January 15th, 2021), and this here 2nd deliverance entitled: "Angelus Pestus". Assuming they were formed not long ago? (having not found any information on that front), LOTAN arranges an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Melodic Black Metal developments with 5 tracks ranging at around 22 minutes.

Opening up with this blistering barrage frenzy of rampantly rompy yet volatile profanity; "Interitus" starts the EP off rightly with boisterously bouncy grinds, hefty tonality & weighty tightness right off the bat. Gnarly deadliness bombastically chops with piledriving savagery, where trailblazing shreds rip & tear with melodic onslaught while surging with sulfurous snares which scour with ruthless pandemonium robustly. Consisting of Phillip Kaaber on the dexterously dynamic guitars & audible bass, this multitasker solidifies with punchy remedy on organic substance. Rapidly shifting with nimble virtuosity, quintessential synergy & thumpy maelstrom mobility.

The vocals from Martin Rubini flamboyantly fabricate at an extreme aesthetic in raspy throatiness that yell with raging aggression, channelling a gravitational force on high-pitched shrieks and grovelling guttural growls with these bellowing barks intensely. "Invita Lucifer" is nothing but a blasphemous impact on hybrid meatiness, monstrous calamity and belting clobbering. Smacking you with neck-breaking, but face-melting malice while sturdy thuds rambunctiously unleash this overwhelming element on a borderline foundation in crunchy chunkiness & sinister manifest. While rumbling reverberation stampedes with ominous stomps, wildly rushing synergy & razor-sharp mayhem that pulverises you with sonically seamless throttling which towers with mountainous riffage.

"B43-MOAB" lacerates with killer momentum, revving like a ballistic chainsaw which pierces through you with vehement punchline grooves and bombing calamity. Blackened harmonies potently shreds with jarring pummellings, unearthing rawly rough bulldozing & bludgeoning hellfire expertise  where the firepower furnaces with hellbent hooks which will roll heads in no time. Skyrocketing with primitive vibrancy, viciously volatile viscerality and frolicking chugs blitz the ground with ferocious chunkiness. The penultimate banger "In the Shadow of a Falling Star" bruises eardrums stridently until this symphonic passage attributes at a atmospheric element of slaying synthetics while profusely rifting with possessed bestiality, brutally banging with malignant chiselling and beastly devilment.

Overall concluding this satanic metal meltdown with the finale epic: "Lions And Snakes"; I am compelled to say that LOTAN most certainly blew me away with this recording, nothing but ravenous sacrilege mounts with salubriously barbaric unholiness that makes me look forward to their upcoming full-length for sure. An enjoyably entertaining discovery that unleashes rambunctiously monolithic tempos which pulsates speakers with malicious mobility. Melodic Black Metal at its finest - do check it out!
