Close Your Eyes
Liv Sin

The brutal opener "Praise The Winners" is heavy, intense and this is my introduction to Liv Sin,having never heard any of their material before, the chorus is of a more melodic nature, some great musicality but vocally Liv Jargell sounds like a mad woman! "Run" is another heavy track with some heavy riffs & drums, but the vocals are aggressive one minute then cutesy/whingy the next which is off putting."Close Your Eyes" is such an annoying track the key tones doesn't work with the heaviness of the track, with the vocals not that great either. The only track I like on this album is "Louder" finds the vocals less extreme or aggressive and the track has some groove about the melodies. The aggressive vocals and heavy momentum continues in tracks such "It's Not Your Life" , "Shadows Of The Sun" and "I Refuse" musically the technicality is on point some great rhythm and guitars."Hold It Together" the last track on the album has some lighter vocal parts where Liv Jargell shows here more tender side to her vocals which sounds so good, just a shame there isn't more of it.
"Close Your Eyes" sees Liv Sin delves into metal genres that I avoid like the plague I'm afraid. One listen through of this album was enough for me and one album I will not be revisiting ever again. There is some great music technicality on the album but the weak link is the aggressive vocals which were a bit ott for me.An album which sounds too brutal and aggressive for my musical taste, but if this is your thing you will love it.3 / 10
