Lift The Curse is an American duo born out of a decade long collaboration between Texas and California natives & now best friends Ryan Hegefield and Jon Yadon Jnr. Since launching the band in April 2022 the duo have released three albums “Rise With The Flames” and “Suffer And Survive both in 2023 and also “Overtake” released in 2024.The duo which are driven by a shared obsession for song writing. Ryan (Vocals,Guitars & Drums) and Jon (Guitar,Bass & Backing Vocals) co wrote every track fusing their individual styles into a unified sound.

A Synth/Wave start to the opening track “Dust And Dawn” is short lived,before my ears are greeted by some modern Heavy/Hard Rock riffs which is blended with some calmer moments musically and vocally with the track also complete with a great guitar solo.”Fly Or Die” is Heavy from the 1^st note with some smooth Melodic vocals in parts also accompanied by some more aggressive style vocals in parts.”Dead End” has some intense drumming with some slick melodies & guitars,this track has more of a commercial sound which gives me Daughtry vibes.

”Regrets Of A Dying Man” which starts off with a very industrial sound with intense snarling vocals before the track turns a bit more melodic in nature with more aggressive vocals in parts. This also seems to be the case with the melodic “As You Are”,the heavy & gritty riffs in “Wishing Well” which has more of a Alternative Rock sound going on,whilst the more faster tempo of “Shadow” which gallops along melody wise,faster drum work and guitar runs.”Save Me” starts with a ballad sort of style but then there are some heavier moments both musically & vocally.”Violet Violence” and “Direct Hit” are both two more tracks with the same a mixture of Melodic Rock with those Alternative touches & Heavy Metal Riffs.”Forever And More” the final track on the album is a little bit more reserved,less heavier,with some nice key touches in places with some more calmer natured vocals.

“Don't Bury The Dream” is a very good album with lots of musical diversity & styles which make Lift The Curse have a unique sound. They have a very modern sound which shines in their music and in the vocals. But sometimes this is overshadowed by some unneeded growling vocals as some tracks sound great without them, maybe that's just my personal preference? But this album is a solid release and an album definitely worth checking out and giving a listen.
