LATITUDE EGRESS is a German one man band, the style is Funeral Doom Black Metal, previously known as LICHT ERLISCHT the name was changed in 2014 and "To Take Up the Cross..." can be deemed as a debut, actually a bloody good debut!!!! I must say, was this made by one man only? Good memories from the great Quorthon.
Nicklas work with LICHT ERLISCHT was excellent and now as LATITUDE EGRESS is no different, this album has great atmosphere and is very dark and touching. "To Take Up The The Cross..." opens the CD and all start to happening, lots of moods changes, awesome deep and shallow vocals with amazing melodies, fans of BATHORY will love this album for sure.
This is an epic album, Niklas vocals has lots of variations and he plays all the instruments with amazing perfection, "To Cast A Spot Upon The Death Of Your Death" another great song, I think it is more Doom than Black Metal, very smart indeed, all songs are very long but very cool and you don't get bored at all.
All songs are well arranged and thought through, the more you listen to it more it grows on you, it is a trip into the dark, into the infinity, into the unknown...
The production is very good, good sounding, cool everything really, I can't fault anything whatsoever, it would be amazing to see it live, that is something Niklas will have to think about because the fans must see it.
