Heart Starter
Last Temptation
LAST TEMPTATION is back with more high energy rock n roll. “Heart Starter” is the third release and comes with a brand new lineup. The band was started by guitarist Peter Scheitauer and released the self-titled debut in 2019. With a new rhythm section and a new singer for “Heart Starter” the band strives to keep the classic sound, while adding fresh new energy. LAST TEMPTATION is still full of the high energy classic sound of the 70's and 80’s. Their music is full of great riffs and tasty licks that remind you of the sound of the Sunset Strip of the 80’s with a modern touch. The vocals on “Heart Starter” are incredibly great.
The lead off track is “Get On Me.” It starts with harmonized chorus vocals. When the band kicks in, it’s full of big guitars and rockin’ licks. “Beauty In Disguise” has a heavy riff driving the song that’s more pure metal than glam or pop metal. This song kicks the heavy groove up a notch and is one of the heaviest on the album. It lightens up just a bit on the bridge. The solo is great with some nice shred licks interspersed. “All In All Out” has a cool kind of funky groove to it that pulls you in. The intro has a nice effect on the guitars. There’s some great lead guitar between the chorus and verse, with some great speed riffs. The solo is great as well, flashy yet tempered, fast and shredding yet not over the top. “Til’ I Can’t See” has another great heavy groove to it. Like “Beauty In Disguise”, it’s got the kind of riff that a heavier band could easily be playing. Once again, the chorus gets a little lighter, bringing in a bit of the pop glam metal flavor. The chorus is done with gang vocals that work well. The guitars continue to be killer with some beautiful licks. The great riffs keep on coming and “Born To Be Alive” opens with another great riff, which drives the song and the rhythm. The song itself is fairly simple in the lyrics. It is best to take it for what it is, just a great fun song.
While the cover for the album is pretty simple and laid back, don’t let that fool you into thinking this is a dull album. “Heart Starter” is full of great rocking tunes. There are no ballads on here. This is a time when bands don’t need to write obligatory ballads. The guitars are fast, with great riffs, and shredding leads. The vocals are impressive and would easily fit in any 80’s glam metal band. The songs are catchy and explode with energy, and the production is excellent. If you’re looking for a classic sound with a modern edge, this is it.
