LAMB OF GOD has been an outstanding Thrash Metal bands throughout the years. They have long been seen as the natural successors of SLAYER. But they have the same problem that TRIVIUM has, at least here in Europe. They just can't seem to become as big as they deserve. On the one hand that is saddening, on the other I am happy about that, because it means that when they do come and play on the European continent, they can't afford to be complacent. No, they have to prove themselves time and time again, and that does bring the best out of them. It also helps in the songwriting and recording process, as they must feel that they need to improve to show the audience what they're made of.

LAMB OF GOD  has been going since 1999, and "Omens" is their ninth studio album to date. And it is a continuation of their former efforts. I do feel that they have upped the intensity just that little bit, as well as the interaction between the faster and slower parts. It is as if they have decided that doing it the way they have recorded it on "Omens" is the way forward. I can only agree with their assessment, as this is easily the most intense, but also the most pleasant album they have released in some time.

The aggression they always throw upon us is still very much slammed into your face, as is the heaviness that comes with it. And I don't know if it is down to having become used to LAMB OF GOD or a heightened acceptance of their abilities, the music is entering my ears and more importantly, my brain, at an alarming speed. and what I like even more is that the more I listen, the more I'm getting into the (Thrashing) groove of things. Usually that is one of the traits of a future classic. They don't always woo you from the first note you here, but worm their way into your subconscious. The songs will surface out of their own accord, whether you are listening to them or not at that moment.

So, you'll understand that once again LAMB OF GOD has done good. "Omens" is one hell of a healthy dose of Thrash Metal thrown in your lap to enjoy and divulge. I for one can never get enough of these guys. Disappointment is not a word that rhymes with LAMB OF GOD in my vocabulary, and "Omens" is no exception. I just hope they can keep up their good work for many years to come.
