Insatiable Lust for Death
Kontusion

KONTUSION is an evil death metal band from the East Coast of the USA and will see the release of their debut LP "Insatiable Lust for Death" on July 25. KONTUSION's riffs, blasts, and walls of feedback reflect the darkness of a world marred by chaos, where large scale atrocities run amok. Drummer Chris Moore vocalist/guitarist Mark Bronzino represent the core of the band, with musicians emerging to fill out various lineups for live performances. The album has ten songs, and "Endless Horror" is first. The production is somewhat muted, and that allows the horrid tones to thrive. The riff is a constant string of aggression, and the guttural vocals dive deep underground. "Revenge" is another deep, dark offering of naked aggression. The riffs provide so much fuel for the song, and the vocals have sharp teeth.
"Hemorrhage" is aptly titled, because as the head wound is opened, blood gushes out, and it doesn't stop running. "Throne of Skulls" is really the first song that veers from the early established formula. It is lower, and slower, and a bit more clear. Still quite damaging, but the riffs are somewhat discernable. "Incarnate" is a speeder ride through walls of concrete and muck so thick you can barely see where you are going. If in doubt, hit the gas, duck, and don't let up. "Subjugation" was the first official video released, and it's horrid, harrowing, and not for children. The slow moving riff crawls like a subterranean creature slinking through the swamp, and ducking under the bog.
"Horrid Eye" is another blistering song of thick Death Metal. They band isn't trying to necessarily re-create the genre, but their energy and enthusiasm is what gets them through. "No Escape" is the final reminder that trying to outrun the band or even hide from them will get you nowhere. They have your scent, and they are out for blood. Overall, this was a solid album to listen to. The band forges their own path through the annals of Death Metal, not content to rest on what the forefathers did, and also not giving any fucks if you like their brand of brutality or not. For that, I say bravo, gentlemen.
