King Lizard - Viva La Decadence album cover

In 1987 we had GUNS N' ROSES with their debut album"Appetite For Destruction", in 1989 we had a taste from SKID ROW and "Dr. Feelgood" by MOTLEY CRUE. More than 20 years passed, bands came and gone but the world asked for some fresh flesh and blood in Rock N' Roll. This story is about "against all odds", it's about a bunch of four: two from UK, one from Italy who came to search his luck with music and another one from Israel which got the local reputation of the "Beast From The Middle East".

KING LIZARDwere formed in 2002, had a lot of changes in their line up until they based their current one in 2006. They released their first EP "Late Nite Dynamite" in 2007, preformed in any corner around the UK, and the rest of Europe, had concerts with the biggest Sleaze / Glam Metal bands from Sweden: CRASHDIET, CRAZY LIXX, and lately with former member and singer of TYKETTO, Danny Vaughn. They live the Rock N' Roll life on stage and in their personal lives, each one of them has been bringing a different attitude. Together they are one of the biggest Sleaze Rock / Glam Metal bands. Flash "Roxx" Sawyer is a combination of Axl Rose and Andy Pierce with screaming vocals, Niro Knox shows us how Slash would have sounded if he still was in GUNS N' ROSES, Sky London beat the hell out of the drums and Alice Rain pounding his bass like an animal in rage.

The opening track is the self titled, "Viva La Decadence", blew with strong heavy riffs along with a Zakk Wylde pitch and gang backup vocals, not to mention the high pitch scream of Flash in the beginning. This one turned up to be a sing-along song especially in the chorus. Can you imagine what happens in their concerts? This was the first taste from KING LIZARD, a taste of powerful riffs and screaming high notes that will make your body shiver throughout the whole song, especially on the guitar solo that stated that Rock N' Roll is back in town.

"Rain On You"is one of my favorite songs. Another hit that showed that Flash got the right balls to scream out. Along with a great opening verse, you won't stop being astonished by the roughness of Flash's singing. The chorus is very melodic and catchy. The interesting guitar solo will remind you that you are the king of the world and once again the emotional vocals that hellishly scream to the end. "Hell Yeah" is a Rock anthem with a groovy guitar line. It is probably that the crowd will surely want to join the band for a sing-along. The line, "you going straight back to hell", touched something in me. "Video Lover" is a mix of GUNS N' ROSES and MOTLEY CRUE with an evil attitude and thundering beats in the opening. This is a strong, fast, heavy Hard Rock by the LIZARDS, it brought some good old memories from the 80s.

"Kan't Kill Rock n' Roll"is a powerful Hard Rock statement. "Never Be Mine" has those right groovy riffs that I looked for. I promise that its chorus will make you jump in frenzy while Niro provides an overdose of his emotional guitar playing. Near the end of the song came the commanding of all moments, the peaceful harmony all band sing-along of the title. What a freaking moment it was. Right from the opening of "Not For Me", I was emblazoned once again by Flash's vocal range that seemed to be tagged along with a bluesy influence and deep emotions. With this arsenal, he succeeded on passing those feelings that reminded me moments of the hit "Don't Cry", yet this one had more prowess. This is a sad song for all heart breaking moments on our lives. I am that any one of you would be able to identify with the story of the lover on this song.

"Taste The Hate"is the most rocking song around, with a simple riff that has so much in it and I believe it will blow your head when you listen to it. Wait till you hear the guitar solo, it will give you a false hint as if everything was over, but it kept on rolling all the way. KING LIZARD is very smart band, they know how to operate their crowd in concerts, just take a listen to the middle of the song "Outrageous" and you will understand how they built the harmony with the crowd. This one got one of the best guitar solo works of this album.

"Late Night Dynamite"is the closer. More of a Punk Rock song that shows that they guys did their best even for last. If you are a Glam fan, "Viva La Decadence" will probably not leave your player for a long time. This album is addictive and I would consider it as one of the top 5 Glam Metal albums of 2011. With the big production of Chris Tsangarides, Andy Brook & Adam Crow, KING LIZARD are on the right track to conquer the world.
