"We Bring Back The Roll Into Rock!"...that's not a bad motto, not bad at all. KICKHUNTER is on the hunt for kicking some hardrocknrollin' ass and I can clearly remember the German band having the same beliefs from their early days back in 2003. Their "Hearts & Bones" CD had presented a Hard Rock band flirting dangerously with Southern Rock while also filtering a slight portion of British 'bluesy' Hard Rock. Have not spent time with their 2007 "Little Monsters" follow-up, sorry, but the fact and only that KICKHUNTER is again here and waiting for another feedback ensures the band sells well or/and digs what they're doin'. Fine for us, in any way.

The sole problem I can remember having with the 2003 debut was that the mix was not as powerful as the songlist would like it to be. Presented - and really performed - as loud music for bikers, hardrockers and dirty beerdrinkin' outlaws, you have to have your speakers blown with such a music style, needless to say the climax of listening to any of these tunes in a Rock Club should normally create s(t)imulations of rockin' orgasm. The same issue is the only one I have here, in the new "All In" CD. Bearing in mind this is a promo disc the review is based upon we should eagerly wait 'bout the finished product to the hit the stores and hope the sound will have more volume to our delight.

Else, for in-your-face hardrockers with a 70s touch bands like KICKHUNTER and albums like "All In" is sight for sore eyes. Beware, though: if each and every band performing in this genre owes a lot (or everything) to AC/DC, the case of KICKHUNTER is kinda differently determined. With the Aussie legends definitely having their name sculptured in the band's inspiration book, I'd bet for mostly bands like PINK CREAM 69, THUNDER, MOLLY HATCHET, (post-80s) CINDERELLA, MOTHERS FINEST, (latesome) DEF LEPPARD, THE BLACK CROWES, DEEP PURPLE and LYNYRD SKYNYRD. Truth is KICKHUNTER is a crossover band, mixing equally the passion of Hard Rock with the liberty of Southern Rock but I'm not sure if this is for their name's commercial benefit or not. The more I listen to the enchanting Hammond and the inspiring velvet female backing vocals the sooner I feel tangled in their web, though (to say the least). The mild parts of the album ("Feels Like Home", "Deep In My Heart", "Ocean") bring forth the request for serenity while groovier numbers in the tracklist - "Boogie Town", "Revolution" (the first single), "Another Tear" - unveil a more dirty (not sound-wise) profile eagerly crunching your ears. In separate, the mid-pace muck of "Shy Shy Shy" seems to be the most vicious multirockin'-sound (from SUZI QUATRO and T-REX to GEORGIA SATELLITES and LITTLE FEAT) cut I've raised my glass to the last couple of years...

It's a band that features HELLOWEEN bassist Markus Grosskopf and ZED YAGO drummer Karsten Kreppert, boys and girls from Hamburg who have played and still perform at the (said to be) bigger biker event in the world called 'Hamburg Harley Days', a crew of rockers paying tribute to the timbre of Hard-meets-Southern Rock..."All In" is the album you like to have and listen at once while feeling young and free. It's probably not a classic or a must-have but definitely gives you a good time; it needs time to be swallowed, remember this. Ah, and the cover take on VICTORY's "The Check's In The Mail" is striking! Ah ah, and the remake of BLONDIE's "Call Me" is not bad at all, too.
