Kalamity Kills are a hard rock band who were formed in East Nashville, Tennessee by singer Jamie Rowe who is best known for being a member of Guardian and guitarist & producer Jamey Perrenot.Originally the album was funded by fans via Kickstarter and was produced & also engineered by Perrenot.Orginally the album was released digitally in September 2023.The self titled album has a host of big name studio guest musicians(see above). The album has now been re-released as an expanded edition. This self-titled album has a modern rock sound theme, from the opening track "Anthem" with those gritty guitar riffs & tones, pounding drum beats at the heart of the tracks structure and aggressive vocals giving the track an edgier feel.

Tracks like "What's On Your Mind" has a groove to the melody, the riffs are gritty & distorted."Dark Secrets" is another track with fresh appeal mellow but really kicks in in the chorus, which has a modern anthemic feel."A.L.I.E.N." is an album highlight  its catchy melody & chorus, with a funky feel with the groove laden bassline.Another track which is a standout track is "Hellfire Honey" which has heavy groove, with some great key touches & again a great bassline, with vocals delivered with swagger and attitude."Burn" and "Sinners Welcome" are another two modern style tracks, with frequent changes in tempo. One of my favourite films ever The Lost Boys gets the Kalamity Kills make over with a modern fresh take on "I Still Believe" originally on the soundtrack with the original by Tim Capello. The albums ballad "Amen" is  piano led with an heart felt emotional vocal with a dark feeling. With Seven bonus tracks three of which are reworkings of tracks on the album,an eerie creepy and dark version of "Jingle Bells"!.Other tracks include "Starry Skies 988" which is a great modern pacy track rocker. The album concludes with "Afraid" which has more heavy riffs and melodies. Kalamity Kills debut album is a solid effort with a  modern appeal. There are plenty of twists and turns with the melodies. They are not afraid to go off in different musical directions delivering tracks that are catchy but are not over polished with the production, hence keep that raw energy and sound flowing through the album.A solid offering for a debut album.
