Jesus Chrüsler Supercar - 35 Supersonic album cover

This three piece "Death 'n' Roll" band from Stockholm, Sweden, are basically what you'd get if MOTORHEAD was to have started in this decade and grown up watching House of 1000 Corpses on a regular basis. They're rough, loud, dark, and bursting with attitude. They also happen to have one of the best band names I've ever heard. JESUS CHRÜSLER SUPERCAR are an heavy, and fun band, let down by the fact that there really isn't a lot of variety. "35 Supersonic" is their second outing, just two years after their debut album "Among The Ruins And Desolate Lands", and builds more on their very specific breed of metal which was laid out in the first album.

There are little bits of blues, country, and even punk thrown in to their sound, which helps JESUS CHRÜSLER SUPERCAR to have a very cool and fun sound that, as mentioned before, is extremely reminiscent of MOTORHEAD, even down to the guttural vocals of Robban Bergeskans. The album starts off with a blast as "Let It Roll" let's you know what these boys are all about just in case you had missed their first album. It doesn't let up throughout the entire album, and in many ways this is a good thing. They never stray from what makes them special in the eleven tracks full of heavy riffs and symbol-heavy drums. Robban's vocals is what gives this so much attitude as it feel like he is practically oozing cool from his pores. "Digging My Grave" is one track that really stood out as it had the biggest bluesy feel to it, leading to it having the most passion in it. The lyrics are absolutely fantastic as well. "I Gotta Go" closes the album in a great fashion with the most up-beat song on the album. It's fun, and a great way to send them out.

As I mentioned earlier, the main problem with this album is that the songs seem to blend together a lot of the time. There isn't a huge amount of variety to it so if this is playing in the background there isn't really anything that will stand out. It's upon closer scrutiny that you appreciate what the band is doing here. Basically if you like one song, it's almost guaranteed that you'll like the rest which is certainly not a bad thing. They're good at what they do, and know not to deviate too much from it.

"35 Supersonic" is a good solid album from start to finish, and if you have any interest in messy, fun, and heavy rock 'n' roll (or Death 'n' Roll), this is definitely the album for you.
