Intracranial Purulency - Interdimensional Escalation of Voracity album cover

On April 8, 2020, INTRACRANIAL PURULENCY released "Interdimensional Escalation Of Voracity." INTRACRANIAL PURULENCY is a slamming brutal death metal band from Italy. The band was formed in 2014 by bassist Nico di Molfetta and filled out by guitarist Luca Veneziani and vocalist Antonio Romito. Since the band's formation, they have released an EP titled "Enthroning the Macabre" in 2015 and a full-length album titled "Eugenic Post-Coital Self Crucifixion" in 2018.

Similar to most slam and brutal death metal bands, INTRACRANIAL PURULENCY's music heavily employs the use of pummeling breakdowns. Each track has a few variations of the iconic slam riff. Jarring guitar squeals are often used on this album to accent a riff. You may have noticed that the band doesn't have a drummer in its lineup and instead uses a drum machine in the studio. When listening to the music, I didn't really miss a real drummer. There were still plenty of blast beats. Vocals wise, this album has everything you would want from a band of this genre: low growls, pig squeals, and even some throaty gurgles.

"Ovulating Teen Torture" opens up the EP with a clip presenting an interesting scenario. The slamming riffs start soon afterwards. The ending is plain heavy, with a few breakdowns running right into each other. The titular track "Interdimensional Escalation Of Voracity" features Paolo Chiti from DEVANGELIC, another brutal death metal band from Italy. A breakdown appears within the first minute, but the rest of the track doesn't suffer for it. Never fear, there are many more in this track. "Anthropophagic Addiction" starts with an unsettling clip. The riff that immediately follows is heavy and something else. Unfortunately, it was shorter lived than I would have liked. It's fine though, because the rest of the track is still great, with fast-paced and slower heavy riffs.

The next track "Nursling Specimen Formaldehyde Suspension" is brutal from the get-go. The South Park clip is a nice touch, as well as the part where the music pans between left and right in the field of sound. The closing track is "Rampaging Acrotomophiliac Perversion." It features Fiore Stravino from FULCI, yet another Italian brutal death metal band. The ever-present slamming riff is there in many iterations, along with guitar squeals and vocalist pig squeals.

Overall, I recommend this to fans of slam and brutal death metal. Slam is always a good time, and this EP delivers.
