Masked Reality
Infinite Translation

Controlled by lies, blinded by preachers that mock the very own existence of their listeners and flock, all for the love of profit and extra benefits. Some of us have been living in a greedy type society for far too long for even thinking of anything else but this awful standard way of life. On the other hand, there will always be those so called "blasphemers" that would inspire to tell the truth, prove the corrupted in front of their followers and have them casted away. I call these guys brave and in time they will become a vast army that will sweep the world under its feet, showing the legitimacy of honesty, and fight with all their might against corrupted leaders of any kind that have been used to take advantage of their peers and trusted congregators. Thrash Metal, as Punk music before it, has always been one of the great leaders against these such cases of social corruption and causes of inter communal decay, and it has been for years. A band in the same fashion as the French INFINITE TRANSLATION has been heard on and off throughout the years, but with even with closer similarities to great Speed / Thrash leaders as RAZOR, WATCHTOWER, SLAYER, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, old EXODUS and VOIVOD, DESTRUCTION, SEPULTURA and HADES, there will always be that petite exceptional shot in the face that might turn the screw of one's mind to think differently of what he or she knows. Meaning, this French group tried to divert its efforts while still playing it old school as it can get.
"Masked Reality", the band's sophomore album, via Emanes Metal Records, probably not the next thing in line in Thrash Metal, but still a tough release filled with a manner of aggression that indicated of loads of motivation to move forward. Providing an acoustic intro to smooth up the entrance to the hell hole the band wished to introduce, like a firing brigade of cannons, the outbreak commenced with no prisoners for the taking. INFINITE TRANSLATION just kept going and going, changing tempos and creating desolation with utmost speed, like an unlimited armed machine gun, barely leaving a passage or a verse as a mid tempo exhortation, escalating the range of their riffing, deploying overwrought soloing and snarling in high pitch combined with mid raspy tones words of profanity against many oppressors. Like being electrocuted by thousand volts, sniffing that overdose that might end the day badly, this what "Masked Reality" is all about, pain, naked truth and cracking provocative Metal the old fashioned way. There have been symptoms of the band aspirating for a little multiplicity in their rhythms, a few breaks here and there nicely made, in order to break the musical cliché' of Thrash Metal. In general, it wasn't that perfect, but still energetic with a few memorable breakaways that twigged themselves hard to the skin like burning acid.
Out of the nine tracks on the list of "Masked Reality" the majority was hanging in the balance, meaning there were plenty of "almost" moments. On several junctures I noticed that some of the alterations made to be different seemed forced upon the simplicity that could have gotten way better even if not inventive in origin. Second, sometimes INFINITE TRANSLATION should have removed the leg from the pedal as the music seemed to be recycling itself. Frankly, I was surprised of what the band composed here, even with that shredding rawness, it gave out great memories of the genre's earlier days and reminded of some of the classics. Therefore, I guess that there might be something to look for. In a nutshell, solid shrapnel of old school Metal music, originality aside as these guys seem to know what they want and showed identity to back their efforts, fitting production, insane solos and profound drumming. Take notice to "Life Of Submission", which will return you straight the beginning of the first paragraph, and "Destined To Death". Two massively active monstrosities ready to bite your ass.
