None Shall Live (in Rotterdam)

When the Canadian band INFERNÄL MÄJESTY from Toronto, Ontario released "None Shall Defy" I don't think anyone could have envisaged that this debut album would become an all time classic. But there you have it, it happened. And even though they released three more than okay studio albums after this one, those never rose to the ranks of "None Shall Defy". Because yes, "Unholier Than Thou" (1998), "One Who Points To Death" (2004) and "No God" (2017) do contain some good songs, but never have INFERNÄL MÄJESTY been able to catch the magic of the debut album.
Of course you will be able to find unofficial and mostly crappy live recordings of INFERNÄL MÄJESTY playing material from "None Shall Defy". To counter that the record company NOMAD SNAKEPIT PRODUCTIONS have decided to release "None Shall Live (in Rotterdam)" on June 1st 2023, which was actually recorded in 1997. If they have the backing of the band themselves is unknown to me, and I can't seem to find out by browsing the internet. The only physical copy available will be the vinyl version, which will be limited to 200 copies. The other way to get hold of these recordings is acquiring it in digital format.
So the big question has to be whether this really is worth all the effort that record company are going through to bring these recordings to the (limited) masses. To put it quite blunt: only if you are a real fan should you go out and order "None Shall Live (in Rotterdam)". The reason I bring it like this is because I feel the sound quality is mediocre at best. You can actually hear that this has been transferred from a tape of some kind, as the sound does fade out once in a while. On the other hand, if you don't mind that, go for it, as "None Shall Live (in Rotterdam)" does give you a rare insight as to how good the guys of INFERNÄL MÄJESTY were live.
I know, I'm not making this easy, but whereas I like a good production, I also love an honest live recording. And INFERNÄL MÄJESTY gives you just that on "None Shall Live (in Rotterdam)". The by-product is that you will have to be able to stand a lesser sound, but if that's not a problem, don't hold back, as I have a feeling that those 200 vinyl albums will be gone before you know it.
