Serpent’s Tongue

Incineration of the Infinite

This was a unique album and something off the beaten path for most Metalheads. I don’t hear the rebellious essence of Punk per se, but the sludgy doom is very audible, and he’s got a sound that is all his own.

From their EPK, ‘INCINERATION OF THE INFINITE is a Blackened Doom Metal project by Ömer Doğramacı with nine releases. There are overlapping themes musically and conceptually, but the difference is in the tempo and song structures, and the project embraces simplicity in its songwriting, drawing inspiration from the rebellious essence of Punk Rock, while layering in the crushing weight of Stoner Metal and the dark, brooding atmospheres of Doom.”

The album (EP?) has three songs, and “Satanic Ritual in the Fog of Night” is first. There is a tense lead-in, leaving the listener to wonder where the fuse is and when the bomb will ignite. The first guitar note is greasy, nasty, and vast, and takes over the entire room. While the riff plods through the landscape wrecking everything in its path, the (harsh?) vocals are closer to whispers than outright rage. Stylistically, it is hard to pin point, but the extremely heavy footprint and slow pace suggests Doom, although that label is really only for purists. “Dancing Among the Stars” suggests some sort of ritual, where happy feet take in the wonder of the canopy at night. The song is anything but. It’s a slow grind of desolation where the scratchy riff increases in sonority, and brings up feelings of hopelessness for me.

“The Gates of Daemons” closes the three-song album, and the riff is slow, sterile, and freezing cold to the touch. It wallows in self-pity and all of the other phrases you can use to keep someone down. This was a unique album and something off the beaten path for most Metalheads. I don’t hear the rebellious essence of Punk per se, but the sludgy doom is very audible, and he’s got a sound that is all his own.
