The Epitome of Transgression

Incinerated

Overall, this was an excellent album. Not all Black and Death Metal has to be so simple, and INCINERATED prove that it can also be complex…that they can write songs well and with a considerate hand, and still pummel you to death with aggression and rage.

From Bandcamp, “The Epitome of Transgression” is a man desire, a consequence of survival against nature and divine laws, Id quod substat; promise to nothing - hold everything. The path of ramifications towards infernal and self-annihilation since man proclaim progression in this world with the death of all gods and the birth of a new man, foreshadowing the nadir of naught - snare of the fowler, an epochs for the tragic ages. Yet there is a hope, a hope that breeds desolation from withered eyes of man, which is leads to the only end, a future ascension and narrow path to doom and destruction. And transgression is shaped, breathe and lives in every heart of man; symbolically becomes a revolutionary act between freedom, passion & will, which maybe it’s expressed virility & arrogance to it's awe-inspiring in the profoundest sense.”

The album has five songs, and “Preludium: The Saints Humanity” is first. The opening tones sound like an army of the undead assembling and marching to their war on earth. Led by the Dark Lord himself, victory is assured. It segues into “Deciphering the Signs of Salvation,” which is a 12-minute opus, led by chaotic tones, dissonance, and fire from the vocals. The sound stays pretty steady throughout the long ordeal, and there are harrowing elements added to the mix. There are also some complicated riffs, but mostly, it’s the dissonant tones that mark the song. “The Cyclic Perdition” is another lengthy offering, and the aggression and rage comes through strong. If you try to gain your footing in the song, it is constantly disrupted. The bass work is excellent, and the band is quite good at navigating shifts in the meter as well as the riffs, while still holding down the central tenants of the song.

“Confronting & Unfolding Fana” is a short three minutes that mostly consists of drum strikes, some spoken word that you can’t quite make out, and a dissonant, repeated riff. “Traces to Eternity” is the final song, and it’s a dark, aggressive, and punishing offering with Death Metal roots. One of the best parts about the song is how complicated and calculated the riffing is, yet it remains accessible to the listener. The animated bass is the other. Overall, this was an excellent album. Not all Black and Death Metal has to be so simple, and INCINERATED prove that it can also be complex…that they can write songs well and with a considerate hand, and still pummel you to death with aggression and rage.
