This is the first full-length release from Chilean Death metal group IMPERATHRON. They put out a four-track demo in 2021 titled "Mercy For The Despicable" with all the tracks being on this release. The band has worked more of a Black metal, and, at times, Doom metal influence into their music to create more depth. They said they have also focused on raw aggression, technicality, and atmosphere to keep the music interesting and allow the listener to stay more engaged with the album.

The album opens with the track "The Human Must Be Overcome" and after a minute of slow build up the song erupts in fury. Sonic and crunchy riffs take over with a brutal assault from the drums to help spread the chaos. The vocals are a gurgling Brutal Death metal but are able to adapt an element of Black metal when called upon. The bass is slappy and sounds sharp when the band switches tempos, but it matches the brutality throughout the song. The song "Ophidism Of The Gods" is a brutal track that maintain machine gun like drums as the guitars deliver a frantic form of aggression. A feverish pace along with demented vocals that cut into your soul. The band controls the pace and set up explosive moments on the track "Demons of Steel". Creative songwriting with some off-time signatures allows the song to build momentum before exploding with rapid double bass and heavy guitars.

Fernando and Cristian work together using low sludgy and thick notes while crossing them with high sonic and at times well timed melody. "Death Will Give Me Glory" is a prime example of how the band uses this technique to its full effect. The vocals on "Mors Est Veritas" are haunting and draw you into the truth that comes only with death. The best vocal work on the release and what I have heard in the past year, as Alfredo really uses a varied mass of vocal power to display his will. The Black metal presence shows itself with the lyrics and in the music itself on the track. The final track "Mercy For The Despicable" is a more direct Death metal assault with a layer of brutality throughout and is a good way to finish off the album.

Although it is a short release, the band was able to put out an album that really shows what they are all about. The drums are intense and devastating while in total control and allows the guitars to bring carnage with the riffs. The vocals are great and feed off the music that draws out the emotion and are not overtaken by the chaos surrounding it, which is usually a sign that the production and mixing on the album was done well. A good start to the careers of the musicians involved and of the band as a collective.
