IMMORTAL SŸNN is a heavy metal band from Denver, Colorado. In a sea of modern cookie-cutter acts, the band tries to retain a more familiar and old school sound that propelled bands of the 70s and 80s to superstardom. Taking their cue from thrashers such as EXODUS and MEGADETH, as well as NWOBHM legends like IRON MAIDEN and MOTÖRHEAD, IMMORTAL SŸNN creates a perfect mixture of speed and grit but can also knock you out with mid-tempo riffs from hell. The band has shared the stage with acts such as RAVEN, EXMORTUS, FLOTSAM & JETSAM, WINGER, FIREHOUSE, GREAT WHITE, RATT, SLAUGHTER, HAMMERFALL and many more! IMMORTAL SYNN has played at famed Denver venues such as the Gothic Theatre and Buffalo Rose as well as the world-famous Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood, CA. Soon after recruiting former GRIM REAPER bassist, Chaz Grimaldi, the group signed a distribution deal with famed NWOBHM label Heavy Metal Records in December 2023. The label is in the midst of releasing their latest EP “Hellspawn” and its associated singles. The band’s goal is to bring old school metal to the masses, and to show the world that the sounds of yesteryear are still alive and well.

Opening “Hellspawn” is “Zwischenzug”, a heavy dose of thrash laden riffs where they toss in a sprinkling dose of punk like vocals backed by the turbulent speed of the drums that had me thinking BEASTIE BOYS on steroids, and yes I wondered WTF “Zwischenzug” means, because the lyrics paint a pretty hostile relationship: “All day long it’s the same old shit, you two faced liar with your pants on fire, you talk the talk but don’t walk the walk, I ain’t got time for your shit or your ego trips, I put a bullet in your head cuz you’re better off dead”, but is actually defined as a chess tactic in playing an “unexpected move”, they must take their chess pretty serious. “Don’t Feed the Animals” is really a checkers tactic….just kidding, but the track is much less aggressive as the tone takes a more melodic turn with a more classic rocking riff and clean, polished vocal overlay and steady drum and bass keep this song brutely heavy. Ending with “The Truth” and “Hellspawn” both showcase the bands strengths with some down and dirty headbanging fueled by the guitar and vocals interacting in perfect harmony.

All in all, a pretty solid effort by IMMORTAL SŸNN, they have some weaknesses but enough strengths to bail out “Hellspawn”. There is a shit load of potential with this band musically and especially lyrically, they just need to tweak and fine tune their musical gameplan
