For me, he Doom and Sludge qualities came through very strong on the album, and the vocals were pure torture. They find the ingredients they want, start up a tractor beam, and slowly machine feed you the sound until you have swallowed it all.

From The Metal Archives, the band is of the Sludge Metal genre, and they hail from Finland. Their EPK did not contain any biographical information however, so we are going to have to let the music do the talking. The album has six songs, and “Hukkaan” is first. There is a low hum in the beginning, followed by light drums in the background. More sound ease in slowly, and so far, this is gentle, but a bit dark. Out of the blue, comes a big riff. Like a wooly mammoth awakening, you can hear his slumber from miles away. The vocals are horrid, tortured screams. The sound is hopeless, and sterile, and it numbs the listener. “Sotaa” is another very somber offering. The riff moves slow, to accentuate the slow pace of death, and the vocals indicate a deep torture with each passing note, or breath.

“Rangaistus” has dissonant opening tones, straddling between major and minor chords, and the vocals are done in duplicate, with lower cleans under the higher screams. Clean tones follow, and the despondence only increases. “Juon yksin” begins with bass notes, and that is something that bands can feature hard in the genre, even taking the lead at time. Tension hangs in the background, as you wait for that big riff drop. It drops slowly, and intensifies, and also creates a bit of psychedelica. “Ei vastausta” is another crushing song, although it moves a little faster. The vocals are again quite tortured, and that similar feeling of hopelessness abounds. “Pimeyden sydän” closes the album. As if the utter desolation couldn’t possibly get any worse, it does. This song closes the door when it leaves, locking you in prison for eternity.

For me, he Doom and Sludge qualities came through very strong on the album, and the vocals were pure torture. They find the ingredients they want, start up a tractor beam, and slowly machine feed you the sound until you have swallowed it all.
