HULDER is a Black Metal band from Portland, Oregon in the United States and it seems to be a one man band. It's career started in 2018 and it already has a lot of materials released, being "Godslatering Hymns of a Forlorn Peasantry" the latest album and the one that we are going to talk about.

The opening track from the album is "Upon Frigid Winds" and it starts with a fast synthesizer sound and then, the Black Metal massacre starts with full force. The vocals are aggressive, and they fit perfectly the fast guitars, bass and drums. The synthesizer created different ambiances in some points of the song, which was cool. "Creature of Demonic Majesty" starts straight to the point, with a different type of guitar riff, and there are more melodic parts in that song as well.

"Sown in Barrel Soil" starts with a cold guitar riff that reminded me of EMPEROR and I liked it. This song has different ambiances and I think that it gave the album a nice dynamic. "De Dijle" starts with a acoustic nylon string guitar and some synthesizer sounds that goes along well with it. It is one of the best songs from the record and it does sounds like Atmospherical Black Metal, which was pretty good and cool.

"Purgations of Bodily Corruptions" starts with a more well written guitar riff and it you develop into something nice as the song progressively grows into you. The song keep the same vibe for the whole time, but it is good stuff. "Lowland Famine" is dark, aggressive and full of energy. It's more the classical Norwegian Black Metal, but with the addition of synthesizers that helped creating some dynamics changing on it. "A Forlon Peasant's Hymn" starts with a guitar sound that is soon joined by beautiful female vocals in the background that slowly grows into you, then, you are hit by the extreme mass of the Black Metal speed riffs and aggressiveness.

"From Whence an Ancient Evil Once" is the last song from the album and it starts direct and straight to the point, with extreme guitars, bass and drums creating a very aggressive instrumental song that is completed by the gutturals that alternate from higher to lower ones.

HULDER did release a nice Black Metal album, with tons of nice riff and ambiances that helped shaping the album better, creating a dynamic that definitely changed the listening and made it better. That is a cool album and the fans from the genre are going to enjoy it.
