Where Spirit Withers In Its Flesh Constraint
Hexecutor

We are going to have a taste of French Trash Metal today with the band HEXECUTOR that is releasing their third album Where Spirit Withers In Its Flesh Constraint (go figure). After a heavy and long introduction, the first track starts “Beyond Any Human Conception Of Knowledge” and I can say that it is a mix of Trash with a lot of Black and Death Metal touches. It brings to mind BEHEMOTH and a little bit of VENOM. Their sound is definitely rooted on the old school Trash with a lot of instrumental passages within the song as you can hear in “Dogue Noir” that is giving the impression that all the songs are sung in French and this is a plus. If you want to sound revolted, French is a good language to expel your demons. This is a killer and very fast track with some crazy guitar riffs.
We follow with “Les lavandières de la nuit” that is a little more tamed and it sounds more like a traditional Heavy Metal call of arms. The singer, and also guitar player Jey Deflagratör (get ready for the funny names) impressed me on how he can scream that much and still play a mean guitar sharing solos with the other excellent guitar player Ricky Malevolent. Is like having a METALLICA with 2 guitar players that can solo. The voice of this album sounds more Punk than ever. Tracks like “Youdig (Perfides Frontières)” sounds like IRON MAIDEN mixed with SLAYER sung by BAD BRAINS.The band has also a perfect pair in drummer Putrid Vön Rötten (this is the winner so far) that dominates the double bass drum art as a pro, and competent bass player S. Chainsaw-Maeströr ( Putrid Von Rotten won!). The band adventures themselves in other areas of Metal but their essence is really Trash.
A well composed and performed Trash with a lot of different nuances and moods throughout as you can hear in the good “Paol Goz”, and the weird “Kerdis Bras” with some crazy tempos. HEXECUTOR pulls off with their Thrash Metal destruction, more than enough musical variety between the songs than a lot of bands in the same genre making the album interesting to hear. With superior guitar work from the usual Trash bands, especially in the melodic solos, and a lot of fast guitar picking, the band adds touches of Death and Black Metal as well as you can hear in “Conomor Le Maudit”. The tracks have a lot of dynamics, atmosphere and total brutality but always with a sensible touch in the arrangements that can go from totally berserk, to totally melodic. HEXECUTOR not only blisters through nearly an hour of good Metal, but delivers to the listener great musicianship and sometimes a different approach to a barbaric form of music. We end our journey with “Marion Tromel” that is the name of a famous French lady that used to command bands of outlaws in the old times. Good album from this experienced band and worth the listen.
